UK Board Tracker Build Thread

Thanks guys! 2m, it's there, since that vid was taken, they are becoming spattered with oil, especially when I tested the advance on the timing, revving it up a bit. Once the engine is off and you look in, oil is running off the collets, do its definately getting oil. I am going to crack the to banjo bolts an see what the flow is like though.

John, not a lot really. Head and tail light, along with the little bits and bobs :)

So, as I near the end of this build, I am struggling on colour schemes this time round.

I would appreciate your opinions :)

Kind of a gunmetal on the frame and tank, chrome the rear fender...pretty much as it looks now but with a paint coating to stop rust. I think that would draw attention to the craftsmanship of the machine.

I went to the hand-built motorcycle show again this year in Austin, TX and again was drawn to the bikes with less bling but more design and creativity built in (was drooling over most of them, as there were A LOT of impressive bikes there).

I think your build is easily worthy of a podium at that show in raw form. Kinda hate to see paint distract from the awareness of you work.

Thanks guys, I like the Red Indian. I've been toying with a blue too. I know what you're saying John B and I did think of just clearing it but definately want to paint it.

2M, that's true but like every other industry in the UK, it's in decline or its vanished. My original trade of a Pattermaker and Engineer has all but gone now. I do have a very good painter lined up for this job though. I hushed yo tell him what to do :)

at first I thought why not pick up on the gold colour of the forks then I thought why not go for something really uncommon like
green or purple or silver :wink2:

Hi Krob, black has always been on the cards. However, for some reason, my brain keeps telling me that black is too boring and it should be more eye catching but the gold leaf or pin striping might work? Good suggestion:thumbsup:

2m. I also checked out the oil feed to the cam and head. First off I cracked the banjo to the head and fired - plenty of oil there (and a good clean up). So, I pulled the front left tappet cover and fired - the oil gets directed onto the cam and gets flung downwards. Perhaps a characteristic of the high lift cam but there's plenty of oil on both lobes :)

I think black with gold leaf would look really good on this build.

I was going to say that! Although, some gold pinstriping down the frame and around the fenders would look the danglies though! I think!

Another one. Just before I painted my frame, it was sand blasted, and looked quite nice. I ALMOST clear coated that frame! Maybe sandblast all of your metal bits?

If anything(ignore the last bit I just said), I think a dark colour would go best with the forks, a real contrast, maybe even a dark brown of some sort?

Whatever it is you choose, Iknow it will be AWSEOME!

nah its got to have some zing .
Blue purple metalflake would certainly give it that.
I think 2x tone doesn't tend to work too well unless they are complimentary colours

The frame would look fantastic in chrome and would set off the metalflake blue something awesome or maybe the other way round ?

I reckon you'll need some sort of serrated washers on the light fixing to keep it in place . Looks great by the way

Thanks Peanut, I am thinking about a one colour for frame and tins??? I do like the blue purple flake idea. Yep, I'll loctite those little fellas and have a spring washer too ;)

Looks great out in the sun Paul! I'm liking the Indian red with some pin striping, but I'll not think any less of you when you go with something else my friend. :D
