spent a little time on the bike the other day...
decided to ignore the electrical gremlins for a little while and get down to some meat and potatoes work.
Made some fitment and visual modifications to the electrical box that i posted previously.
I'm not an engineer and i had difficulty with the top pieces because of the upward curve. Must've made three or four different ones before i got it close enough to use.
Found a laser cutting shop and got it all cut out. Saved me a lot of stress.
Here's what i got. Hopefully i can find a good/cool way to mate these two together.
Here she is all taped up and ready for ze welds.
and after ze welds.
and with a coat of paint to stave off rust
here it is slid into place and almost looking like a complete bike!
I have a piece of 1/4" flat that i will be welding 10-32 machine nuts on. I will then weld that into the lower part of the frame and use button head screws to lock it into place. Why 10-32 button head machine screws and 1/4" flat you ask? Well, they're leftovers and they work.
In other news, I ordered a set of forward controls (pictured) and a wiring harness. I also found someone that is willing to help me do some wiring in exchange for beers. I really need to find a kit of different colored 16ga wires to replace all the (almost 40 year old) wiring with fresh new copper. Otherwise i'll be using a spool of black wire with number stickers.
