I tried to make a modified socket to hold the top of the dampener rod on a set of 34mm forks. I wasn't able to make it work. I've spent more time then I'm willing to on this as it's for a buddy and I have 35mm forks. Anyone that has made the modified tool, I'd be more then willing to purchase it from you.

Johnnny, look above at the floating tool thread. Member Beags made a nice one and his it floating among the community here. Looks like another member got it in February. Maybe they can ship it to you next.

Crap, my bad. His tool was a 35mm. Won’t work for your early forks.

G'day Johnnny,

I made mine from a six point 1/4" sq drive long reach socket.

Works a treat, first time I had to use an air rattle gun to release the buggers but it all went well.

I can take some dimensions and photos if it would help.

Dimensions would be really helpful. I appreciate it.

They are 74 I believe. It’s the 34mm forks. Going to try it again today with a 10mm socket and a grinder. Any measurements would help.

I think you are over thinking this. Here is mine. I took a 10mm six point deep well and hit it with a 4” grinder. The opening slot is 10mm wide by 10mm deep. Took just a few minutes to make.

74 is different than the 1 year onky 76.
Have yoi considered goimg to ebay and looking at what "OUT OF THE FORKS" parts look like?
If you see them bare, its easier to make the necessary tool.

 Hi Jack!!! Sorry Guys, Got this in the wrong place! Can't fix stupid!

We are working it today with a 10mm socket. Unfortunately I work out of a storage locker with no power or vice. This takes some time with a hack saw, vice grips, and a hand file. Will report back once it’s done.

Got it done. Kept hand filing till it fit. Had to use a hack saw, hold the socket with vice grips, and a hand file.
