My teeth say I'm omnivorous, I won't disagree.
I did a bout of vegetarianism in my early 20's. There's a bit of haughtiness that goes with the choice. I broke the meat fast at a Steak and Brew in Miami, 1973, surrounded by a half dozen friends. There's an alertness that is experienced by consuming meat that is lost (?) on the regular consumer but I felt when the fast was broke. Mayhaps it's the fear that the animal feels when led to slaughter. That being said I look at wild meat killed quickly on the hoof as having a power to it that supersedes feed lot meats, whatever, I'm eccentric.

In this day and age of needing constant vigilance I'll take any edge.

During the Second World War in New Guinea some cannibals were brought in for killing and eating a few Italian troops iirc. When questioned they matter of factly confessed to the deed but regretted it, not by moral standards but by the reason that those they had consumed didn't taste good enough for the trouble. The local tribesmen had been encouraged by the Allies to pursue and kill the Japanese troops that were on the island and to which some of those Japanese had been eaten. The tribesmen said that the Japanese were good food as their diet consisted mostly of vegetables, however the Italians consumed lots of meat and the topper was that they smoked cigarettes. These tribesmen said if they had known how tobacco affected the meat they would never have slain the Italians.
Everybody in the Allied camps started smoking.

Um the earth has gotten warm enough to melt the Greenland ice sheet multiple times "in the last million years" Guess human history is older than we think?
Over population is the underlying problem of all the issues you cite.

Absolutely true.
3.9 billion people in 1973 (not that long ago)
7.8 billion (double) or more now.

Pollution is bad! Carbon is plant food!
Meanwhile, the big picture.
I have always been obsessed with archeology, paleontology, anthropology and geology. Doctorates I have not but it's never stopped my learning.
The following video coincides with some "mythology" that was penned about 2 thousand years ago, interesting to see societal and geological/space events shifting into place.
If you watch don't be dismayed by the terminology, all disciplines have their terminology and learning the terminology is the key to any discipline (those of us that work on our own bikes know this).

Gawd! That's a tediously long way to say "shit happens" eh?

Watched the whole thing.......Moves really fast over some things that he uses to make a point, don't even have time to read the headlines. On other points he wants to make sure the point gets across, he holds the material so long you can read it twice...........Makes for leading, rather than information to educate

The thing is this is beyond any control we have or could do to lessen or to hasten the effects.

as previous said .. we are fked ... or at least our great great grand kids are ...there will be just to many of us for the resources of the planet and this is without climate changes (caused by us or just the natural cycle) so unless 90% of the planets pop gives up breeding ... WE ARE DOOOOOMED .. or at least a big % of the human race will be ... but we can put off climate change (as caused by us ) for a short time simply by stopping cows from farting..lol

On the current trajectory of habitat loss and global warming, scientists predict one-half of all species face extinction by the end of the century.

In New Zealand, that disappearance is even more pronounced, with more than 4000 indigenous species at risk. These include everything from the delicate fairy tern to the lumbering elephant seal.

“Our record, compared to the rest of the world, is awful. When you look at world rankings, and the proportion of threatened species, New Zealand is ranked worst in the world, number one,” Esterhazy says.

Just like tobacco companies before them, Big oil is now being exposed as lairs who knew about the affects fossil fuels had on the planet, was more interested in $'s than our survival

Extract from the link

"The silence, non-answers, and repeated deflections from Big Oil's Slippery Six exposed once and for all that the fossil fuel industry won't back off its commitment to spreading climate disinformation and lobbying against climate action in order to protect their bottom line,"

"For the first time ever, fossil fuel executives were confronted under oath with the evidence of their industry's decades long efforts to deceive the American people about climate change," . "They not only refused to accept responsibility for lying about the catastrophic effects of their fossil fuels—they refused to stop funding efforts to spread disinformation and oppose climate action."

"There is no longer any question: These companies knew and lied about their product's role in the climate crisis, they continue to deceive, and they must be held accountable,"
