I got all my spring term grading done yesterday and so today packing begins. Cathie and I are packing up our home of 24 years and sticking everything into a 20' shipping container that arrived in the driveway this morning. By later today, the house will be ready to "stage" (which means that minimal furniture and virtually no personal stuff will be left in it - except our clothes) as the hunt for a new home continues. We're searching for a place out of town a bit with a smaller house (kids gone now) and 1-2 acres (detest our neighbours) and a big@ss shop for my toys. The only parts of the house which will remain relatively untouched at this point will be the garage where I will continue to work on my bikes and my basement office/dungeon where I do my consulting work.
In the meantime, the container will disappear once it is loaded and we'll keep it in storage till we find something new.

With a couple acres you can make a dirt track around the perimeter.

Sounds almost like where I live, but I have 5 acres and another 4.5 acres between us and the nearest neighbor. That neighbor used to be okay but my wife got charged at by one of their dogs while walking our on the 4.5 acres between us. Just to make the story more interesting that 4.5 acre lot is owned by my ex-wife who lives in BC.
