Mecham motorcycle auction Las Vegas

Have been lusting after an Indian 4-cylinder (open fender model - say 1939?) since market value was around $25K. Was shocked at sale price for the Nimbus. Could also fit a Crocker in the collection. Eye candy at a minimum, investment beyond that. Yah, like they'd be sold B4 room temperature overtakes me................

Tomorrow's live stream (Friday)

I miss the info on the bikes with John Kramen and Scott Hoke. Kramen knows m/c well. They also have Paul d'Orleans on who is the 'king' of knowledge on motorcycles of all brands and years. Worth a listen. I don't miss the commercials though.

A couple of things that caught my eye from yesterday, early 70’s European MX bikes are beginning to bring serious money. Maico, Montessa, Bultaco’s and especially CZ’s for some reason. My brother in law and his best friend , both bought one of these when they first came out, I used to go riding in the desert with those guys. They’re blindingly fast. My brother in law broke his arm , when he crashed , while chasing a Jack rabbit on his. The rabbit got the last laugh. :laugh2:

The owner of this beautiful Hurricane must not be confident in getting what he wants, he set a reserve.

I predict big money for this one, a sand cast 750.

Be interesting to see what that Hurricane fetches. Any guesses?
I'm thinkin' 15K.
Hard to say. I'm curious also. I'm hoping it brings a lot more than that.
Good chance his exhaust is not original. Amazes me that 2 to 4 Hurricanes sell every year and they are all in very good shape. Considering there were only 1200 or so made.
My original exhaust. Notice the length and spacing of the silencers. My silencers haven't moved in 40+ years. They are rusted solid in the crossovers.

His silencers. Bottom 2 farther apart than the top. Also my originals get shorter as they go down. His bottom 2 stay the same length.

My repops. Almost idenical to his. Can't be sure without looking in person.

A Hurricane sold a few years ago for $28k, so if the bid is only 15k, it won't sell. I bet those pistons for the 250 triple are no bigger than a 1/2 dollar.

Boy nobody seems to want Sportsters from the 60’s and 70’s. A whole slew of them just sold for peanuts.

Amazing price in that CBX. I remember reading about a decade ago that those were going to be future high priced collectibles, I should of spent the kids college funds and bought a couple! :D

If it is the Honda CBX I looked to buy one of those mid 90 ies
They had a reputation being difficult and needing special tools
Late 80 ies people bought them stretching their budget if I remember right around ---$ 1500
And when the shop cost came ..parked them
I checked one out ca 35000 miles perhaps a little less
Reasonably looking asking price $ 1800
I was thinking about it for a while but thought that the mileage and price and the reputation being difficult
So I walked away .Still looking out for another one
Next year the same looking and mileage was 2 x price $ 3600
And next $5400
So within 3 years the price went up 3 x And I stopped looking
I don't think the increase has been that steep after that and I have not followed it
But it was obviously a mistake not Buying Perhaps the biggest

Yeah man there was some serious cash flowing today. Some of these prices are nearing car auction levels.
