My '75 came with no kickstand but I thought "no big deal I'll just use the one from my poor hulk of a '78 parts bike that was given to me". No go, totally different. The one on my '71 will work, but the more research I do on this, the more confused I get. My question is, which stand Is correct for my '75? :umm:

Does your ‘75 have the stock exhaust? I’m guessing, but the ‘74 and ‘75 might have a peculiar kickstand due to the giant fat mufflers. I think that’s the angle you have to look at.

74-75 have a unique sidestand. 70-73 fit but are a pain to extend because they lack the toe extension to clear the muffler.

Yes, the '74-'75 models have a unique stand .....

..... and the '76 model has an even more unique, one year only stand .....

But it's possible those 3 years may swap.

Thanks for the replies. I Have an early style one and I'll just weld a toe piece on to it and wait for the correct stand to surface on fleabay.

Digging deeper I found the spring retainer on the frame disappeared somehow in it's past. Bummer. Talking to the guy who painted my sidecovers about it and he said he could fix it along with the toe piece extension. He machined a new post with the groove, then welded it on the frame along with powdercoating the stand, Came out great and easy to deploy.

Pretty much what I had in mind . Glad to see the geometry lined up with the bike leaning on the stand. I think it looks better than the 74-75 stand.
Thanks, sure is nice to have a sidestand again. Young cat in my area does excellent fab work and quality mc paintwork for a fair price and is dependable.
