Had got my bike going today after new battery and some carb cleaning. Getting blow back through the carbs and left cylinder is running hot. I believe it's a timing issue? Any useful info? Thanks?
Running hot might mean mixture is lean on that cylinder. Lean mixture or an air leak can cause blowing back too, I believe. Had a look at the plugs? Are you able to put up a video of the bike running? Do you have access to a strobe to check the timing?

OK here we go
So is this a points bike we are talking about now
If so it is a first assumption and the easiest way to move forward an ignition problem ( carbs has been serviced )
Ignition may be off --- the blow back indicates that .. If it is blowback on both cylinders a later ignition can be tested ..
But I would shift over the ignition components from the running side over to the non running side and vice versa
Spark plugs coils points condenser Se if the Fault moves aka the running cylinder after that is the Other cylinder and the first one
is now dead.
Some shifting of connectors and at the same time service these connection points.
If this method is tested please come back with the result.
Edit
Not loosening the points mechanically just the wires further up
Sounds like a timing issue, Instead of trying to chase the gremlins out of old parts Id start fresh with new set of points and condenser. Start by adjusting the valves and cam chain, then install the new breakers and set the timing with a test light.

Tjaeehh if ignition timing is not set and exhaust is leaking
Obviously there are things to address
One way to do it with the ignition is to gradually change it .
And listening and getting less blow back through the carbs.
Blipping the throttle to find it .
Even if not accustomed to it a better situation can be found.
There are service manuals on line of point gap and how to do it
A quick look in a manual says the point gap should be 0.3 -- 04 --0.45 mm but i varies a bit on model
