hi, I have a '72 xs2, someone can tell me the minimum depth of the steel discs (256-16325-00) .I dont find this data in the service. furthermore, having to buy the new clutch set, I realized that I have always raced without the ring cushions (256-16367-00), are they necessary?

What The differance from 256-16321-00 and 256-16331-00 ? Can i use for all 6 plates one of two codes ?

Mmmm, a seller tell me that its 1,4 mm ( digital caliber he says ) ,for The plates i have founded The original item with different code , but i dont understand Why Yamaha have 2 type of plates

The 1.4mm thick steel plates are for the later 7 plate clutches. There are two different plate thicknesses to get the proper stack height with the friction plates. Your friction plates are 3.5mm thick and 6 are used. The later clutch uses 7 friction plates but they are only 3mm thick.

If you can't find the proper plates for your older clutch, you can change it to the newer 7 plate configuration. You will need all new plates, seven 3mm thick friction plates and six 1.4mm thick steel plates.

Only now i realize who 5twin its : a guru!!
Wonderfull , sorry if i replay but you are a master ...
My old xs2 ‘ 72 have an old clutch
4 plates 256-16331-00 ( i believe without metal )
2 plates 256-16321-00 ( insert metal )
6 disk stell 256-16325-00
6 ring cushion 256-16367-00
I have 2 option :
Change old clutch with new oem Yamaha except disk steel ( dealer in netherland dont have them , use my old disk)
Remove all ring and all plates , add a disk stell and use 7 plates 341-16351-09 ( xs750 ‘74)
Disk stell are The same , a dealer told me 1,4 mm centesimal caliber check
What better solution ?
