I think this tank I am working on is from a 73. Does anyone know?

Should I fill in the badge area or keep it stock? The threads are gone. I think I can repair it.

The neck is 73-76. The blue base paint, and the recessed badge area narrows it down to definitely 1973. As such, it is a one-year only tank. It will only look right with a 1973 seat.
Since the paint is gone, you can do with it what you want, in my opinion. Furthermore, there were two versions of the 1973 tank. Yours is the first version, and is pretty much known to eventually leak at the rear seam 100% of the time. The later version used a decal instead of the raised emblem. So, you could fill in the badge area, and theoretically restore it to more or less original with a decal.
I would definitely put a Caswell tank liner it because of the rear seam issue.
BTW, if you don't have the gas cap components, they are expensive, especially the lock.

From Partzilla.... The '73 looks like Bob's '72
The '74 fiche shows the extra boss and hole that your original pic shows.
