What did you do today?

Yesterday my Son and I went and bought a piece of shit 75 or 76 XS650. Today we froze are asses off out in the garage starting to strip it down.

Tryed finding the oil leak on my xs's engine, looked several times but can't pinpoint where its coming from, it should be easy by the amount of oil it loses :banghead:

A good wash then huff some baking soda on the suspect places to see where the seep starts? I need to do that myself.

1st went for a little spin on the klx250 (-25 C windchill) but still fun.

Hung up a ceiling light so I can work with the garage door closed.

Sat and stared at my neglected XS and tried to figure out where to start - oil leaks, seat, mufflers, paint, new battery box. So much to do and sooo lazy.

:) I got to spend some time wrenching on my bike today. Valves have been kinda noisy so I set them to specs. I'd been wanting to put in bigger main jets since it's running a touch lean, so in went the 135's. She's been running great but I'd been noticing some changes/noises so I gave it the needed attention. Can't wait to do a long test run! :bike:

Yep, this is an old thread but I thought My tale would go here well...

There I was, riding to work this morning when I was suddenly and viscously attacked. This is no SH!T! After decades of riding, I knew this would happen someday, and today was that day.

I was a mile from my expressway exit when this supernatural object leapt from the shoulder and hurled itself towards the bike. There was no time to do anything other than shut my eyes and brace for impact.

Luckily, the impact was slight yet it grabbed ahold off my clutch lever and would not release. I did not swerve nor panic brake as this action could have caused further damage if not death at 85 MPH. As it was, the bike maintained a steady state of travel and speed and I could still operate the lever despite the attacker's grip.

Once safely off the highway, I was able to photograph the attacker as proof of the mishap since I know without pictures, some will declare it never happened.

In the end, I am safe from all harm as is the bike which I know most of you are more concerned about though you would of course, ask about my well being first.

The attacker of course is a Popeyes Chicken sandwich, foil wrapper. Since I love eating Popeye's Chicken, I am wondering if this is a sign that I need to return soon as it has been several weeks since I visited a Popeye's. Or is this a chicken's spirit doing what it can to seek revenge on me for the tens of thousands of chickens I have partaken of over the years? I realize that spirits come in many shapes and sizes and most cannot do any physical harm but they can cause you a good start that may lead to some misfortunate happening...

Good morning folks. A testament to my attitude about riding my bikes as often as I can, especially to work and back, is that usually snow and ice are the only things to prevent me from riding. Today we have high winds and heavy rains, maybe up to four feet of tidal flooding. The flooding won't affect my route or house thankfully. But I didn't ride today...

Yesterday on the ride home atop Buzzy, the 39 year old XS650, I noticed my upper lip felt odd. When I got home, it was swelling some. Then the inside began swelling. I worked on Yamato, the Stratoliner, for 1.5 hours and during that time, my whole face became itchy and even started hurting to touch. My lip went numb from corner to corner and the inside of the lip was quite angry and swollen.

I took Benadryl and another allergy pill and by bedtime, the itchiness stopped.

This morning, my face is sore. When I put on the full-face helmet, it hurt to the point I didn't want to wear it and with the heavy rain today, I'm not going with the half helmet.

The odd thing is, I do not recall any sting on the way home yesterday. Nor any foreign object hitting my face/lip. The sensation makes me think it is an allergic reaction of some type.

I did eat peaches, plums and cactus pears during the day. All things I normally eat. It is possible that I didn't rinse one of these enough and some sort of chemical was on it. But that should have manifest sooner than it did I think. The last thing I ate before noticing my lip was about 1.5 hours before the sensation hit.

Anyway, I drove my truck to work today and clumsily crawled out of it when I arrived. I thought how weird it is to drive to work...

Morning Boog----Take care of yourself man. Probably should have gone to a "Doc in the box" yesterday. Your truck was the best thing for today......
