Headlight, brake light and turn signals work
so im assuming the reason my speedo and tach was not lit up
on my first night ride, was due to a couple of blown bulbs.

anyone have pictures or a link to a video, on how to remove said tach and speedo,
break it down, replace bulbs, then re-install?

thanks in advance

I've never seen a video, probably because this is very simple and straightforward. Open your headlight and unplug the little harnesses running to each instrument. Then, if you look at the bottom of each one, you'll see 4 little acorn nuts. Take the drive cable off and remove the larger two acorn nuts on either side of where the cable was connected. Now you can take the instrument off. Once off, remove the other two smaller acorn nuts and the housing will come off. The bulbs are in rubber holders that plug into the bottom of the instrument .....

According to the '81 parts listings, you won't have the twist type bulbs shown above but rather a blade type T10 .....

This is a common automotive bulb and should be readily available at an auto parts store. Or you can get them from eBay. The trick is finding ones small enough to fit in your housing.
