First new bike I ever owned, 1971 Yamaha RT360. One of several I wish I had back.

Kawasaki 650W1. Sexy as all get out, but a beeyotch to start and the brakes were more of a concept than a reality.

1974 TX650A, straddled by a 1974 Downeaster. Kept that bike longer than I've ever kept any bike and probably should've never let it go.

198? Honda XL500. Put some serious miles on that bike in the piney woods of Northwest Florida while stationed in Pensacola. Got snookered into swapping it for a 1978 nekkid Goldwing. Had a bad alternator on it, easier to sell than to fix, but was a great cruiser as long as you kept the battery topped up.

1979 Special, the bike I bought to relive my yoof. Kept it quite a while too, but the new bike urge bit me, so...

My current ride is a 2016 Yamaha FJ09. 115 HP. Fuel Injection. ABS. Traction Control. Real brakes. Real suspension. 115 HP. Horry Sheet!
DE that W is killer. I'd love to find one those now!

OK Nash - we know that you're a young lad, so I'll keep this simple:
  • Birth control = stop buying those little Honda twins.
If you bought something else - say.....another XS650 or a Kawi triple or heck, even a BMW, there would be no more pregnancies to mess up your motorcycle budget and you could teach SWMBO how to ride. See - easy-peasy!

....just trying to be helpful. ;)

Pete

The way I figured it was to just not buy any bike period for her any more. Just for the sake of safety, all the further motorcycle purchases were for me alone.

OK - that is another way to tackle the issue of family planning.

See, hanging around with a bunch of old guys is teaching you some useful knowledge!

One of these days I'm going to have to take a pic of my rides from the 80's. An '82 BMW R-100RS and the "84 H-D FXSB Low Rider. Or was it a Lowrider? Both are the only new bikes I ever bought. I miss them both. LOL, both were red.

Well it seems we need to update this thread somewhat..although y'all have seen this elsewhere...My 1993 Honda ST1100..Its getting all my seat time..sad to say but the XS650 is just sitting in the shed...
