What have you done to your XS today?

Yep, I did. My first ride I took off and there were no pegs! Takes some getting used to. Strange thing, it felt like a Triumph. The butt remembered!

Yeah I did the same thing! :laugh2: It took a little getting used to riding with your feet forward, but it was oh so comfortable! And it had a great motor and great sound. I had the factory accessory short pipes which had a nice deep rumble.

Oh, for sure. This one came with two sets of mufflers but the ones on it are long and low and remind me of lake pipes! :geek:

Does an XS vibrate? Spun the nut off the pliers inside the tool case.
I find the bolt and put it back together. Now What? Really?

Them pliers is from Arkansas! Well, maybe they are slid in the wrong direction?

Nope. No joy! Over bite reminds me of an old girl friend I use to have.
There better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, but not much.
I'm done for today. Who uses their tool kit anyway?

Love my Yamaha tool kit. Nothing that cant be done on the side of the road. Have added an extra set of pliers and ring spanner.

Gettin' All the Bits in One Place
My very first purchase in the XS world maybe 8 or 9 years ago, all in boxes, no title, but pretty much complete. Got title fine, then retired and moved it 3 times.
At present moving again, into town from the country (say goodbye birch tree) the exact opposite of Max Pete, so once again packing stuff. So I thought I would hang all the bits together for inspiration and make it handier to move and here it is. Factory tins including a black headlight with a bit of flake in it will be used as is, (tank has a shallow dent just in front of the seat which must have made the p o gasp), have a ratty stock exhaust too so it may go together as a survivor, but it'll go back in the shed till I get settled into the new place.

Very nice! I really like the way those mufflers look, are they Harley mufflers?

Had a welder come ‘round to help move things along: rear brake linkage fabricated (hardtail), faux oil tank installed, regulator mount, rear fender mounts, fuel tank bungs. Things are lined up nicely 185E4037-99DE-4B09-8C2C-50550ADE2287.jpeg

It's made that way to install the master link on the chain.

My XS650SK has 60,000 miles on it. The tools have been stripped of their finish and the pouch is full of holes. It's a pleasant vibration.
Just ordered one of these $16 shipped to my door tomorrow
No more bloody fingers from pliers or screw drivers

I didn’t know they made special pliers for master links. Boy, there’s a tool for everything isn’t there?
I know it won't get used very often but If it works as well as they say I gotta give it a try
I have been looking for a new to me toolbox base with wheels
Running out of room

Now, wouldn't you know it. 85 degrees. Took a 12 mile trip out to son-in-laws. Got there and it didn't want to idle. Was there about an hour. 12 miles coming back it died twice at stops. Fired back up first kick. Also it was sputtering just a tad on closed throttle. First problem in 2500 miles. What changed? Nothing except the first ride of any length since I put the Commandos on to replace the Pea Shooters. Mixture! But I'll pull the plugs and look, check points and may pull the tank so I can put the vacuum take-offs right. Then I can check my balance. It used to idle a bit faster when it warmed up.
Also need to tweak the clutch adjust. Clutch disengage right before the perch makes it twice as hard to find Neutral from second when it's hot.

I make room by putting labeled storage tubs on furniture dollies that fit under a sturdy 36inch shelf.

My rolling bases only seem to move when I am sweeping the garage.
