Halco Ascot TT. Ya Want One?

Received an email back today from Steve at Redmax SS.
He recons the frames are worth about £2500 each. But.... What he'd prefer is selling all the tooling... jigs, tank molds and such... the lot for around £8 to 10k.
Steve said you can contact him directly at:

funny how its worth $8000.00 when some one inquires about the frame..........what, or how much business is he doing with these, has/is he even pushed/ing them??

He would have to throw in all the frames and any parts made up as well or he would cash in on it if someone was to make a success out of marketing these..........Think the XS650 days are over for these to become fashionable. Especially in the US

yep think your right about the xs650 days are over / numbered , its mainly us old farts with only a few of the younger guys into them and we are not getting any younger .. tastes change , you only have to look at the decline of harley and what the younger to middle aged riders are buying .. also with all the xs650 that have been chopped / bobberised etc ,, in future yrs the ones that will be worth any sort of money will be the ones still original , not that it will matter to us as we will be toes up or dribbling into our porrige in a home while the kids / grandkids sell off our bikes and piss it against the wall

I'll not go into the history of the bike here (or maybe I'll fill in the details at a later date), that's not my intent. Besides, if you know it, you'll already understand.
The tooling to build the frames and such still exist. They're in storage in Devon England, owned by the gentlemen at Redmax Speed Shop. I contacted them and Steve responded with the following email...

So... anyone who's ever wanted one, there you go. Give him a shout and see what he want's for the bits to build one.
Here, there's 43 pics here.... enjoy some XS650 porn....:geek:

Hi Jim,
The halco ascot in the first picture is mine don’t know how it got on the net though.
I originally bought the frames and jigs from bsa regal in Southampton and the rest of the parts from Tony hall, which I sold to some friends who were going to build them as part of a business, I don’t know how Steve at red max got hold of all the parts.
I have had my ascot since 1998 and have covered over 100000 miles on it since then all I can say about them is that they are a really fun bike to ride and also really smooth if you or anyone wants to know more about the ascot leave me a message.
I also have a spare frame with which I will one day build up as a special.
Attached is a picture of my bike as it is now

Hey Tony,
Your bike is fantastic!! I'd love to see you write a thread in the Garage and tell us all about your bike and the history behind it.

Today I was at Calne Bike Meet which is a free event (yes, free!! You read that right) where a few thousand bikers get together, just a few miles from where I live. I had my XS650 on the Bath Classic MCC stand and I got into conversation with a lovely bloke who was looking at it. He turned out to be XsTony! The penny dropped when he said he had an Ascot 840 with rubber mounts ...

Anyway, it was a pleasure to meet you Tony and please keep us up to date with your activities - the new build sounds great. And post lots of pics!

Many years ago, when the kit was $1500 shipped from Tony Hall, I wanted one bad but didn't have $1500 to spare. Now I'm too damn old to ride a bike with that setup the way it's meant to be ridden and would finish the project long after I have to hang up my key. Old age sucks: Golden Years, my ass!

Sometimes you just got to say WTF and jump in

Not to whine, life has been a good ride for me so far, but my medical prognosis estimates that I can expect to ramble maybe another 3 years. I'm hoping for enough recovery to be able to ride again, maybe through the 2023 season, but after that I'll be looking to rehome my D to competent hands, price to be determined by candidate's ability, perception, and means. Thanks for the advice, RC, but I don't have much space left to be jumping in.
