I don't think rotating the engine to TDC and then adjusting both valves is the "hard" way to do it. You know for a fact that at TDC the other end of the rocker is on the heel of the lobe. I don't like his method and I think it's slow.

Yes, I don't don't see the point here. There's no need to "reinvent the wheel", so to speak. The original method works just fine. As far as determining when the cylinder to be adjusted is at TDC on it's compression stroke, I rotate the engine by hand and watch that cylinder's valves open and close. I watch for the exhaust to open and close, then the intake. After the intake opens and closes, I know I'm approaching TDC on the compression stroke and start watching the rotor and stator marks to align them. If I go too far, the exhaust will start to open again.
Woof.... that was almost painful to watch....
