Site Upgraded to Xenforo 2

The drill is a bit different to find another member's threads

I've noticed lately that when I click on the "Smilies" button, it takes forever for the smilies window to pop up. It's slow in firefox, but in Brave it takes forever. Brave actually pops up a window saying the website isn't responding and do I want to wait.....
Anyone else notice this?

It's a lot bigger now, if you scroll down there's hundreds (thousands?) of icons. But you know me I stick with firefox through thick and thin.
maybe unrelated; Spectrum is selling a "new faster" connection as an upgrade so supect they've begun throttling the standard package connection. I actually had a spectrum tech check everything in the house and he changed some of charter wires splitters etc. but it hasn't made much of a difference.

Jim, it's working fine for me on Firefox 98.0.2 with Windows 10. What are you using? How long is it taking to load? Does it happen every time?

Windows 10... Google Fiber isp. On Brave right now. Time varies. Just tried it and it took 9 sec for the window to pop up. When I get the "Unresponsive" window, it can take up to 30-45 seconds.
Just tried the wife's computer.... same variables... same slow response.

Not every time... but the fastest is about 9-10 sec and slowest is about 45 sec. Let me open Firefox and see what it does...

Same variable... 'cept on Firefox. Took about 3sec for the box to load.... so it looks like a Brave glitch. Funny, 'cause it's worked fine up until a day or so ago.
Damn.... forgot how slow and clunky Firefox is compared to Brave.... :boxing:
...other than, you know... the slow smiley box.
Given the choice, I'll forgo the smileys...

Okay well let's see if others report the issue and if so I'll submit a bug report to xenforo if we can find something in common between users experiencing the issue.

It loads in about a second or less on all of my various browsers.

Fwiw... I tried clearing the cache and other junk/cookies out of Brave... everything except passwords.... didn't help.

If you're feeling up to it, turn the wifi off on your phone and make it a hot spot (assuming you have a smart phone and the data plan to do that). Connect one of your computers to that and see how it does. That would eliminate any potential router/isp issues.

I give that a shot tomorrow.

OK... wifi off on both the phone and laptop. Tethered from the phone to laptop, so everything's run through Verizon....

Brave still takes forever to display smiley box... get the "not responding" window about every third try or so.

Firefox is better but still slow.... about 6-8 sec on average. That would actually be tolerable, but I ain't givin' Gary the satisfaction of switching back to firefox jus' for smileys... :boxing:

Tried Edge (which I never use) and it was the fastest at about 1-2 seconds.

Hit the GIF button out of curiosity and it acts the same way.

Just for more clues I took the laptop off the net... no wireless and no tether. Click on Smilies and the bars at the top (working on it thingy) flash in and out like it's trying... and eventually times out after 20-30 sec or so.... but I don't get the "Not responding... should I wait" window.
I guess that tells us the request is being received by the website if the browser knows enough to tell me it's not responding but doesn't know that without the web connection?

Seriously though... this is more work than I expected jus' for some smiley's. Wouldn't kill me jus' to do without 'em.
