Well I got my bonded title yesterday as expected. All in all a pretty painless procedure. People at DMV very helpful.
I haven’t done much on the ‘72 as my 1100 has been hogging all the shop time. I did get the carbs shipped for refurbishment and today I removed the sump oil screen. Probably first time it’s been removed. Plan now is that when the carbs show up I will try to start the engine with a temp gas tank and see what needs to be done, if anything, to the engine.

Working on the sump cover today. Got it done but have a ways to go on the engine mating surface. Looks like some sort of adhesive was used, either by the factory or previous owner. Scrape , scrape, scrape……

Scraped and emory clothed engine mating surface today. Next time out I will have new filter in. Going to check the other screen then fill it up with oil. After that’s done I will take it off the lift and get the beast on it to correct a few mistakes previous owner did. Leaky carb, headlight failure, rear wheel spacer problem. Hopefully get it running right before the carbs come back.

With summer going faster than free deep fried cheese curds in a Wisconsin bar I returned to my work shop. Since I share the space with various artist and numerous critters first order of business was cleaning up the place. Spent a couple hours vacuuming and cleaning the powder from a visiting artist who‘s specialty was grinding rocks. Also cleaned up the droppings from mice, raccoons, and who knows what. Made enough of a dent to do a little work.

I got the cover off to the other oil screen. Couldn’t budge the screws last spring. Several months soaking in Kroil did the trick. Didn’t look too bad. Nothing on it I can see.
I ordered acorn nuts from Mike’s XS for the valve access covers but they were too big. Next I want to get everything buttoned up, add oil and install the carbs .
Not sure when I will get back at it. Between the nice weather, doctors appointments, and driving mom around it may be a few weeks. Also have to get the 1100 fixed.
