'75 Front brake refurbish

Looks like the approach to brake repair depends on the model and your commitment to originality. Willis has maintained the factory appearance while upgrading the components. I imagine that's what we call a resto-mod - a process that gives us a traditional looking but improved motorcycle. Many of us opt to replace the MC with something larger in diameter for better "feel" and use a single stainless line for convenience. I have one off a 250 Virago with a Hel line. I took off the factory paint and left it shiny. When I finally got it bled, it worked and looked fine but certainly not like the factory version. Only you fellows would notice though.
Great job Willis.

I got the new lower lines in today. The 15” with straight banjo is the ticket and fit well. Now I just need to get my master painted. Warmer today but way too humid to paint. I guess I’ll be playing the waiting game.

Willis, After 3 years of having done this project. Still happy? I'm about to pull the trigger on purchasing the black SS lines with the same fittings as you ordered for my 650B.

yes, still happy. Did you note that I made revisions in the banjo fittings? For my bars the straight fitting worked best as the angled banjo put the line at a weird angle.

I got my stainless brake line from Hel for my 72, it replaced the steel line and both rubber lines.
The banjo bolts came with the line. If you get just a brake line with no bolts you will need a 10-1.25 banjo bolt for the caliper.

I'm in the process of doing the same mod, I have had to source M10 x 1.00 to conect banjo to brake, did you have to mod the convex nipple inside the port or shorten the bolt on your brake cylinder?
Cheers
Phil

The correct banjo bolts came with my brake line.
On the first caliper I had it on it all worked no problem. When I replaced the caliper the banjo bolt bottomed out in the caliper. I found thicker copper crush-washers and that did the trick. I thought about shortening the bolt or modding the caliper but thicker washers worked just fine.

Thanks GLJ
I will look into the thicker washer but I think I will still have to mod the bolt or cylinder.
Has anyone removed the convex nipple inside the cylinder? it looks to be made of brass but not sure.
