Any idea how I can loosen up this right side mirror stem? It’s seized by many years’ worth of brake fluid corrosion. Already tried a few days spraying PB blaster.

Note the little slash marks cut into the points on the hex nut. That indicates it's a reverse thread. Yamaha right mirrors are like that, I'm guessing so that the wind doesn't blow them loose.

The mirrors are threaded so they'll break loose when bumped on a forward moving bike. Normal threads on the left, reversed on the right.

...and that line across the flats of a fastener is a universal symbol/signifier of left hand (or reverse) threads....

Wow learned something new today!

Funny... I said universal....
I damn near beat the front axle of my BSA Victor half to death before I finally looked in the manual.... I said that part out loud, din't I..... :er:
Anyway, you think those effin limey engineers coulda put a ring around it to signify left hand threads? Noooo..... :banghead:

Thanks guys. I loosened it. Only issue is my new brake lever has normal direction thread. Lol. Maybe I can find a new stem? Or just buy new mirrors 😵

Dont know if is legal everywhere but I dont have a right side mirror ...only left side.
Driving on the right side -- there is more going on at the left side of the bike and straight back
If you move to the left into the " Fast lane " you can be hit ...rear ended .by the faster moving traffic
.Whereas when moving right you generally speaking moves faster than the traffic in that lane. You are changing to.
Can be different in the US .
I also turn my head avoiding if something is beside me before i change position.
Habits -- I also dont use the bikes turn signals that much since it does not cancel itself.
That is dangerous coming into crossings. If turn signal is on . someone can drive out in front of you.
I Show hand signs .. That was legal back in the day...
