Mailman’s Suzuki C50 Boulevard

And yeah, hopefully these will stay put! 😄

So you may remember that my set up for luggage was this trunk that I had on a previous bike, it was great while I was commuting because it easily hauled all my work stuff, but on my cruiser it always looked like a BBQ kettle hanging off the back, 🙄

I wanted a more classic cruiser look, I always liked the set up I had on my old Triumph, so I decided to try and emulate that look.

So I ordered a set of Viking saddlebags, they’re nice bags they are leather with inner stiffeners so the bags won’t sag, they come with a set of mounting brackets and a ( rather flimsy ) lock to discourage lazy thiefs. 😄

So then to complete the look, and because I ride solo all the time and don’t need a rear seat, I installed a rear fender rack.

I‘m happy with the way it came out, I got the look I was shooting for. The bags are big enough to haul a couple bags of groceries in each. I’m also very happy with the quality of the Viking bags. Being that they were universal fit, the installation was quite fiddly. You have to hold one bag up where you want it, mark the holes and drill the bag, then transfer the hole markings to the other bag and drill it, and remember to keep enough clearance from the exhaust. It took me a while.
But now I’m good to go! 😉

Looks great, matches the contour of the rear fender really nicely! I love the look of your old Triumph too. Nice upgrade, congrats!

Thanks! That old Triumph was a sweetheart, I really did love that bike, I thought I’d never get rid of it. That was four bikes ago. 😁

I think it looks as if there are good expansion Possibilities
The topside of the bags and the rack gives a more or less plane surface
There is room for straps on inside of the bags .
A board perhaps " Picnic table " and then strap softer items onto that
Sleeping bag tent clothes.
perhaps everyone already knows this

So I was razzing @gggGary about the seat on this Norton, and he replied
Just promise me Gary, that you won’t change that whore house seat! 😆

Prolly enough material to do a Suzuki cruiser seat.... :boxing:

What! How dare you! It is the right color though! 😄

I did however get a new whoopee cushion for my old ass. I had been using this AirHawk knockoff on my XS650, but it was a tad bit narrow for my luxury barge,

so I upgraded to a much more manly sized whoopee cushion,

Nice. I bought an Airhawk for the XS but never used it yet. Any tips or tricks for inflating the cushion to the optimal pressure?

Yeah, you want just enough to keep your butt off the seat, don’t put a lot of air in it. You’ll feel like you’re kinda rolling around on it, but once you’re settled it’s really comfortable. Also you have to sit pretty much right in the middle, fore and aft. Otherwise you tend to squish all the air to the front or back. Just experiment with it and you’ll find your sweet spot. 👍🏻

I had the same stock seat on my 2004 Suzuki Volusia. It did get hard, I went to Walmart and bought 2 gel bicycle seat pads. I took the seat cover off and placed them right where my bones hit. The cover went back on with no problem and they were still there when I sold the bike in 2019.

I use one too on my Road King. I also use a sheepskin seat cover on long trips. The wool allows the air to circulate under your butt, helping to prevent "Swamp Ass" even in the summer
