I picked it up in spring and it was falling apart and wouldnt run. In the picture I posted that is after 2 months of tinkering and hundreds of $$s in parts including a new seat, tires, handlebars, mufflers..... So it has come along way but still needs a multiple dent removals, case polishing, paint, rim clean up and a general freshen. It was made late in 77 as an early 78 and the 78s have seem to have a split in the vins as to when some stuff changes. To get this running I had to get it back to stock and jet it as a 77. once i did that i fired right up, idled and ran great. Then as a changed exhaust and the leakiy stock air box I jetted accordingly and it runs really great now. Now its just comsetics to get it back to prime condition. I have had probably 40 different bikes from all era's and I love this like bike more than any.Unless I am missing something , how is that 650E a "very rough sort of runner"? Looks pretty good to me, at least in that shot. Beautiful shot, BTW.
