When I got my xs650b it came with the original Oklahoma numberplate and this key fob,I've seen the exact same one in a photo on here somewhere. Out of interest does anyone recognise this place?

If I put a photo up of the US license plate would the US guys on here be able to shed any light on my xs's history like we can here in the UK? (mot history etc)

License plates do not stay with motor vehicles in the US. My XS650 has had several from several states on it. I had two break and fall off. Each time, I got a new number. Each time I relocated, I got a new tag. I was in Georgia for over 30 years and they periodically change their system and issue new numbers and colors.

Tag info is pretty much worthless. Post the picture and we’ll tell you what state it was once registered in.

For the record, I don’t really know what MOT means.

O Gentlemen I believe he refers to the mandatory inspection

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOT_test

All kind of horror stories of the inspector dropping your mint bike. Ramming the Chassis with a pointed hammer looking for rust and so on The car can fail the test and get large sums of repair costs.
Emission tests I hear about Diesel Filters and Exhaust Catalyst
Historically rust destroyed the day.

There is 3 grades of complaints remarks
1 Some defect that you need to fix
2. A defect you need to fix and come back within a month get approval
3.. Prohibition Cannot even drive the Vehicle from the place Need to tow it
Scrap it or repair come back

The slang is " The Spanish Flag " To be fair it is traffic dangers No brakes and so.
Rather than harassment .Which I have heard of.

I once failed a Exhaust sound test and there was 4 - 5 inspectors on the yard None of them seeing it may way '
And refusing consider any paperwork I could get.

I had to go to another town to get Approval.

We Danes always looked to Sweden with envy how relaxed modification was viewed and allowed - try to build a chopper in Denmark :-(

Yes they are correct, an MOT is a mandatory annual test for roadworthiness. Thankfully my XS is exempt now that it is classed as a modern classic.

That may show Oklahoma registration from 2005 to 2017 depending upon what the sticker on the left “OK 05” actually means.

MoT used to mean Ministry of Transport but with Government re-organisations I don't thing that name still exists. Department for Transport - DfT.

Is it a good thing that vehicles registered as Historic no longer need an MoT? Well in general, yes for us owners of motorbikes over forty years old. But I worry that the inspection exemption on older vehicles will mean hens being evicted as older cars and vans that would never pass a safety check are brought back on the roads.
