Stripped and repainted, manufactured the odd missing part and added some details. Dechromed some stuff like the wheels and deck plate that wouldn't be chrome on a working truck.

If I can scrounge the appropriate parts (mostly axles and wheels) I want to build a "pole trailer" for it to stay with my logging theme. Guessing it was originally assembled with "kid safe" glue as everything came off (or fell off) very easily.
 
DE, what scale do you need for the trailer? I've got a few die cast semi's and trailers & would be willing to donate if the scale is right for you.

Yeah, the 318 "screaming" was a highway motor; the loggers prolly needed the grunt of a 8V71-92. Here's a 3-tone cab (maybe cumalong powered)

1/25th is damn close to 1" equals 2 ft. (1/24th).
So about 4" across the front wheels sounds about right for 1/25th scale.
 
Exactly, except for the 8V Detroit. (Based on the exhaust manifolds.)
If I remember right that Transtar has a 903 Cummins in it, a good close-up of the engine and I could be sure.

I worked on a couple of those in real life and more of the various 71 Series Detroits than I could ever count. Every thing from 4 cylinder to 16 cylinder versions and possibly a 3-71 but not positive on that! Plus the odd 53 and 92's.

PS no idea on the glue used as that had to be at least 35 years ago! Glad to see it seeing the light of day again after a few decades in the box in the basement.:cheers:

Yup, you're right. Didn't realize Cummins made V-type engines.

The '57 will be built stock and painted black and yellow in tribute to the one my second older brother had when I was a kid.

Well for the most part the 903 was not one of the stars for Cummins! Not sure but believe I saw where they were at least recently still being made for some military application. As for V engines Cummins does make up to 16 cylinder engines for some applications!
 
Cummins built a V8 for Nissan Titan pickup trucks for a couple of years. They've proved problematic, a dual stage turbo nested in the valley and covered up so it sits there and cooks. Run pretty well while they run.
