Well,
Now that I'm finally ready to knuckle down and build that Street Tracker project, I see Omars site is virtually almost 100% sold out of everything.

Just my damn luck... 😢

Does anyone know of any other source out there making any decent looking fiberglass seat/tank combos?

If not, I have a few street tracker project bikes that are gonna get fire sales done on them soon!!

Try Gopher Glass.

Goon Glass and Rubber, FB only, also First Klass Glass, Grand Prix Glass
Omar is packing it in, looking to sell his business and is no longer making product
Has anyone heard any rumors if anyone is buying his business and carrying the tradition forward, or like many other things now days, is it just going defunct?

You know what really sucks about Omar retiring?

For many years, I have been squireling away inexpensive (at the time) XS650's that I could find that had titles, that weren't great survivors, but had great potential to make street trackers out of. Also snagged several flanged/spoked wheel sets anytime I spotted good deals on them for that "some day".

I didn't have the spare cash, time, or place to necessarily devote to making said street trackers, but always knew the day would come when I could.

That day is finally here, all my ducks are in a row to get started on them and he's turned out the lights on parts...ugh, just my luck. 🥺

I really liked the shape of his tank, seat, tail section and graphics....just couldn't pull the trigger back in the day. Always late to the party.

Hotwing Glass turned out the lights as well. He told me it cost him a lot more to ship within the US than the Chinese were paying. That and not recovering expenses at the shows and vendor fees rising. I don't blame him. If we don't support our vendors, they'll go away.

I've spoken with some, they think that his price is too high. I don't know what that is. What he does have to offer is a known and specific product line, however the market is decreasing as these bikes get older. Most of his glass offerings are duplicated by others, the XS specific items being all that any of the other glass makers would be interested in.

A bit of a :hijack: here but Omars had a good set of mile and 1/2 mile pipes as well as Hooligan pipes too. I know he could not keep up with the demand and was always "out of stock". That only tells me there was a good market for his products. With Gary Hoos supposedly not offering his exhaust systems anymore that leaves Jemco and Gunn Design which both make good products but a little pricey. So Vincent if your going to build some trackers you`ll need to find a source for the pipes. Just a thought but if I was to ever get into an aftermarket business related to the XS650 Yamaha it would be exhaust systems of some sort. Almost forgot about Mike`s "Ascot" pipes.

As someone who works heavily in fiberglass and resin on the day to day, I don’t see how anyone making body parts for old motorbikes could keep the lights on (with the exception of a select few who do custom work where cost is no problem)

In the last 3 years I’ve seen a 55 gallon drum of resin go from 900 bucks to 3500.

The cost of glass has more than doubled as well.

EPA is constantly breathing down the neck of anyone slinging resin.

Sign of the times I suppose...our whole world seems upside down now days unfortunately.

I was looking at this tail section from Saddlemens today.

"Saddlemen Vintage Tail Section, Harley Custom Flat Track Harley Tracker"

Curious what sort of fit it would provide? They sell the seat pad separately, which looks pretty decent too.

I'm lucky, I bought a genuine Champion seat for cheap on this forum. As to the Saddlemen seat, is it ABS or glass? If it's glass, it's easy to modify. ABS? not so much.

Glass, fortunately.
Then if you like it, buy it. The Champion seat I have is for a Champion flat track frame. I'm using it on a '81 Special. I'll have to cut off the rear frame loop and make another and add some tabs, but that's about it. I'm either going to run the stock tank or a tank from a '75B that I have. I'll paint both and decide at that time. Glass tanks hate ethanol and many the horror stories on this forum about tank sealers have steered me away from consideration. Look @Kevin Werners street tracker to see how good that seat looks with a stock tank.

I've got a couple of old original XS-1, XS-1B, XS-2 fuel tanks that look really good as a tracker tank.

They're non-original paint (read: look like crap, paint wise) so I was saving them in case I ever needed them...they've become pretty damned rare these days.

I believe I will have to relocate the front tank cups on the Special frame to make an early badge tank fit, but thats doable.

Never know, in the interim I may find a used Omar tank somewhere...I never use ethanol fuel in my lesser ridden bikes anyway.

Sounds like a plan.

Any sources or anyone with an Omar’s they are looking to sell? I also checked Saddleman, they say it’s for Harley and can’t guarantee fit, Gopherglass requires cutting/modifying the hoop which I am reluctant to do for resale. I have tried multiple attempts at reaching Red Max Speed Shop - they appear to be the best option without modification and include seat. Air tech has option but you need to cut number frame off, no seat and there closing shop…

I am looking at going with Jemco high side and more tracker look over how the bike is today. I was debating leaving current setup with just high side exhaust but not sure the aesthetics on it.
