I’ve attempted to diy install a 2004 sportster front end (given to me) on my xs650. I called TC Bros and ordered:
30x48x15mm BEARING RACE × 2 (SKU 119-0079)
1 in. STEERING BEARING SET × 1 (SKU 119-0080)
The harley stem was a bit short. I cut a little less than 5/16” off the bottom of the neck. It still felt a bit short so I ended up grinding the bottom lip of the harley stem where the bearing sits in order to squeeze in some more slack. Is this alright???? Any issues with this???? I think I read this process somewhere in one of the threads in the site though not sure It feels and appears ok. I’m attaching pics. I also read about addin dowel locks we will see

I guess voodoo has a neck kit out there now. If I can save some money I will just go with my diy way haha. I am still debating if what I did above here is OK. I guess I now have a front end as well as rear drum to disk converted wheel that I can sell if anyone is interesed. I bought a rear 16 inch harley wheel at a bargain. It was 25mm bearing and I purchased 25mm to 20mm reducers. Pics of my rear new addition harley rear wheel as well as the front end, front/rear wheels with rotor and caliper. Both new tires and balanced 19inch front and 18inch rear. Shoot me an offer, u pay shipping

What does swapping in this front end gain??

I could see a springer for looks but that sportster fork doesn’t look as though you are gaining much beyond a headache.

I am however quite possibly missing something.

That’s just it. I gained a headache. Other than having more options for controls, wheels and brake setup not really sure. I was honestly close to finally “finishing” and then was gifted this all. Sadly no turning back now
