Wiring help needed

Hello I purchased a 1977 xs650 chopper project looking for any information on getting wiring figured out to see of it'll run I am going to be ordering parts and don't know exactly what I need to me it appears that it has an electronic igniton and has an aftermarket wire harness that's labeled points there's a couple wires that I'm unsure where they go and ignition has 3 wires comming out it is only kick start also
Looks like an ardcore hardtail

Does a wire go from the the big lug on the black box to anything I'm assuming the battery but not sure with the generic chopper harness that I have ??

From what you guys told me the red goes to battery black is ground brown to key switch power correct ?

If by "big lug" you mean the rectifier mounting stud, no wire goes there (normally).

Yep thats what I ment lol I wasn't sure of it was like a main power or what kinda puts you in the mind of a power lug on a car alternator thank you for the help!!!!

So the brown wire from the voltage regulator would go to the key switch to where it would get power when the switch is turned on ?? I worked everything on a on off key switch power in the in the on position power to the voltage reg the ignition and the coil however when started revs to the moon the only thing different from when I hot wired it is the brown wire I can post photos In a bit

red with tape battery in
Purple and yellow tail light
white with tape headlight low beam
Reds one to coil
one to ingnition
Brown voltage reg
Then from the rectifier I have red to battery black to ground

That wiring, I suspect, has nothing to do with "revs to the moon". For that, check throttle slide position in carbs (cable binding, mis-adjusted cable, etc)

You should however put a 7.5A inline fuse on the PAMCO red wire at a minimum (easily fried). Other fuses - other than a main 20A fuse ahead of key switch - are optional, but beneficial to future trouble shooting
