I noticed today that my neutral switch lead wire was dangling and the screw that normally fastens it in place was missing.

Does anyone know the size screw typically used in this location? Thanks much.

Questions for those who may know.

Is that little brass plunger on the end spring loaded with tension?

My neutral light stopped worked. Checked the wiring by grounding and the light comes on. My plunger can rattle up and down. There’s no tension.

I am not 100 % certain but if I Recall right there is a spring inside as in all these switches be it Car door or Refrigerator door
If you want to test it it can be done without inserting it in the bike hooking up something temporarily

Ok good deal. I feel like it’d make sense to be spring tension but not sure either.

I undid the switch from the motor and screwed in the wire. I had to more or less lightly slam it against a ground spot in the engine for it to come on. I’ll order another and see. Weird how it just randomly stopped working though.

I used to work with Backhoe excavators and there was pressure sensing switches in the hydraulik 65 bar that was tested ON / OFF in a rig
Different manufacturers
They have a finite number of times they last . In your case maybe a spring inside.
But there is also electric conducting surfaces inside so it happens they break
