I've been thinking I need a helmet to compliment my 650b when it's finally done and can't decide what style would work, full face, open face with inbuilt sun visor? Currently I have an AGV K3 in gloss black which I think looks a bit too 'superbikey' for the old beast, what do you all reckon?

My current one-

Everything is flawless inside the headlight bucket and everywhere else. This has been an ongoing issue.

Im thinking this is what you need. For $30 im sure it will protect you just fine. You can also fit in with the HD crowd.

Me I prefer my Shoie Neotec II
LOL; that ad contains the conflicting terms "novelty" & DOT: not usually seen in same sentence. Pic shows liner that's definitely more novelty than DOT:laugh2:

I ride with a Bell full face helmet but when I get my next helmet I'll go with a full face modular helmet
Especially since I'm still stuck with wearing glasses

I own a number of lids depending on use.
My current favourite is a Heddon open face for use on the XS650.
beautifuly made, super light and strong. A bit spendy at full retail, but I bought a discontinued colour brand new about £300. I use sun glasses with it but you can use goggles or a stud visor if preferred.
what price do you put on your bonce?

I have a HJC V-31 open face with the built-in shield. It looks massive on my head, and while comfortable and DOT approved, I wouldn't buy again simply because I look ridiculous (imagine a human microphone)

I’ll play along…..
I‘m a safety over style guy. Always a full face, I buy modulars because they are easier to wear with my glasses. I also like an inner sun shade so I can leave my sun glasses at home. So…..I am currently wearing an HJC IS Max2, which apparently has been superseded by the HJC i90.

Using the hanging tables drawn to assure a dead but non-decapitation hanging, I calculated (Fi) that death by collision can occur at about 7 mph with no helmet, and about 5 with a helmet. The mass of the helmet is a factor. For 50 years or so no helmet, then whatever minimal crap I have to wear. Recently with the beanie off, I did, well, headed for a ton on a back road, and as I backed off a sheriff came the other way. He waved. Call me criminal. I've totaled an Oldsmobile with a BSA, banged through garage doors, slid down the highway, outrun cops, with no beanie. However after they forced 'em (Bell lobbied the finks) I did have a couple of serious injuries...all better now. Brand? Brand X, of course! Cops are not certified engineers...a dixie cup? Nobody'd buy that. Kid tells me that down south Santa Barbara (Patron Saint of Gunners!) way, I'd get a ticket... I did have one youthful cl77 experience though...mom insisted that I buy a beanie...and a hornet flew in... Ouch! Many times! In heavy traffic. That decided me that beanie = bs, lonlongtimeago. But yeah, it's situational...I don't cotton to fellas with badges n guns stopping me on the road...that's dangerous!

Death can occur sitting in your Lazy Boy. Im more concerned about sliding down the black top and grinding my face away. Ya know i'm such a good looking guy and all.

So 40north you never told us what helmet you wore or did I miss something. All I can think of when you say beanie is one of those hats with a propeller on top
