Which helmet do you wear?

I've got a cheap head, so I wear a cheap helmet.
I just go by the features I want and refuse to pay the inflated prices asked by the top three makers.
After all, even the cheap ones have to meet standards.
Note, I'm not meaning the ultra-cheap ones, I'm referring to ones between €150- €200.
Ironically, one of the best early full face helmets I had was branded HA. Only later did I discover that was the name that Arai were launched with. It was a cheap enough helmet at the time too, until they established and could ramp up their prices.

I inherited this one from a neighbor friend's estate......he should have been wearing it himself that one day in august not too many years ago.

Death can occur sitting in your Lazy Boy. Im more concerned about sliding down the black top and grinding my face away. Ya know i'm such a good looking guy and all.

So 40north you never told us what helmet you wore or did I miss something. All I can think of when you say beanie is one of those hats with a propeller on top
I agree! That's what they are, symbols of submission.

Actually I have a kraut army motorcycle dispatch rider modern full face helmet that is really good, face shield an all, but it is not a DOT "certified" bucket. (the kraut army does not/did not, give a krap about DOT) I might actually wear it for specific rides. I'd rather not, mostly. Seriously, the helmet myths are bs...bikes are dangerous. That's the idea. I'm absolutely sure that the beliefs in contrast are a manifestation of a propaganda campaign...call it "advertising". I have no idea as to the brand of the beanie that I am compelled to, as a slave witnesses his servitude to his master, wear... It's mere costume, just as is your own.

I'm pretty sure that the "helmet" stuff causes accidents, but transfers some deadly head injuries into paraplegics. It's a wash...and I think that's actually quite reasonable, in analytic sense.

Don't cry for me, my Brother, I expect to see 93...and hit a bridge.

Best!

Submission to what?
Hi Jim. I guess I was unclear. (the idiotic propeller type beanie archetype is a symbol of submission to a fraternity in old films) But to answer your question > Submission to those few who rule over us. For market research purposes let the record show "Binford 2100 # 3" and "uncategorized". In my eyes most US laws since 1945 are at material variance with the US basic law, including the beanielaws. Privately, many lawyers of my age (and I am not a lawyer) will agree. We are ruled via a form of ukase, and by force. This I expect to continue, until it doesn't. Neh... Dogs bark, caravan continues... It's Carlin's freak show on dope, just now.

Wear what makes you happy, or at least makes the cops happy, they have badges & guns. They are actually pretty good cops 'round here, but I don't push it. They have to deal with reality and I don't want to intrude on their difficult tasks. Ah...there's Bobby... listening to Desolation Row..."...cops doan need you and man they expect the same..."

Best to you Mr Jim! & Best to all.

I know more about that song than anyone should and for some reason that line never jumped out at me. Interesting.

what price do you put on your bonce?
I have trashed 2 helmets in my life. Both were at the economy end or the price range, both saved my life. One had a gouge in the forehead from a front axle castle nut of a CR125 the other was pretty much abraided to the foam across the face and forehead. Both were DOT (of the 70s)

In all honesty its best to go to a reputable retailer and try on several lids of the type you like in your price range.
Pick the one with the best fit and comfort (allow for the lid to settle in as the foam compresses). The retailer should give good advice and have professional experience to help you make a considered choice.

LS2 Arrow. Looks WAY superbikey on any of my stuff but I don't care. It's my head after all.
I guess it kind'a goes with my red XL1200S with its supertrapp 2-1. Looks sort'a like Supertwins or 883 race bike. Good enough.

I drove head-on into a truck and landed on my head. After a short period of unconsciousness, I walked away. That was 2016.

It's called a Bell Bullitt Hart Luck Bubbles apparently. Well there you go.

I like it because it fits my head, it's very light, the opening is very wide, which greatly helps peripheral vision and avoiding feeling like me head is wedged in a bucket. I really don't care whether other people think the type of helmet is appropriate for the bikes I ride. Actually, when people comment on the helmet it's usually a compliment on the colourful graphics.

Unfortunately, I can not wear a Bell Helmet. I need a “long oval” fit. I have an Arai head. It’s rather limiting.

As I said, best to try different brands of the type you like in your price range.
A comfortable and secure fit is far more important than style or price.
comfort = safety, as you forget about the lid and concentrate on enjoying the ride.

There's lots of of helmets I can't wear because they don't fit the shape of my head. Must be the same for many of us. Shoei Neotec 2 is what I have, replacing my Neotec 1 that was 11+ years old.
Not cheap but worth it in my view. Works for me, anyway ☺
