Interesting motorcycles, not XS650

:twocents:
It's going both ways?
Prices at the specialist auction sites are high and going up.
But If I had a secret warehouse that Allison didn't know about I'd prolly be buying more bikes this month, cuz there's some "deals" out there on CL and FB.
Maybe the wrench twister's investment in time is finally being recognized. Not to mention the parts and services costs of restoration work are climbing rapidly.
I suspect the big venue prices are being driven by collectors that have little or no connection with motorcycle riding. They are chasing investment gains.
Another factor often talked about is the lack of young bucks with mechanical inclination. If it's not a runner, fewer and fewer can, or are willing to learn how to fix "need a little love" bikes.
I believe your assessment is spot on.

They were a bit of an oddball machine. Chain drive and roller bearing crank. Considered a sports model

Also they produced a GS 650G or GT between 81/82/83 depending on the market in the US or Europe (classed as a tourer), a more pronounced kick up for the pasenger seat, had shaft drive and shell bearing crank.

The 81 GS650EX and 82 GS650EZ chain drive did a 12.7 sec standing 1/4mle. This was the same as the earlier GS750's
Have to fight over the standing 1/4 time as MCS has them doing 12.7 and the chart is 12.83

Shaft drive models, (according to MCS), do a 13.2 Standing 1/4

A lot of the Chain drive roller bearing crank GS650E engine's top end, (Barrels, pistons and head), were grafted on to earlier GS550's; (roller bearing cranks as well), a bolt straight in conversion with a small amount of the crank case removed to accommodate the 650 sleeves. This increased the CC from 550 to 673 + the 550 has a 6 speed gearbox to the 650's 5 speed.

Some would bore the 550/650 or their 650's to a 740cc, (max without re-sleeving),

But wait there is more..............if you ring in within the next 5 min you will also receive..................................

Suzuki GS650 series.

Those were beautiful and bulletproof little bikes, anyone would be lucky to own one.

My 1st race bike...Model 68, on VFT today

Bultaco Pursang

Bultacos have really been appreciating in value lately. I need to throw some into my “ what did they sell for? “ thread. They tend to surprise me. 🤔 Speaking if which….how long before we see your little beauty show up at the Vegas Mecham auction? 😄

A lot of Pursang MX bikes are being converted and sold/raced as Astros for flat track. There's a specific class for them, they call it Running with the Bulls
They've really made a resurgence in popularity in recent years

Mecum? Probably never. To much trouble to get it there. I have a truck, but driving in Jan. from Co. to Vegas is a no no. Maybe BaT or eBAY. It will happen soon tho.

This showed up at our bike night. The guy has a bunch of things he made up. He has a Cushman thing with a Goldwing engine in it. This thing does about 20mph but he says its scary to be on.
