They built these with two rear ends.... one had a cut down Ford auto rear end with 10 inch drum brakes... the frame work for this is worthy of the Golden Gate bridge... massive.... they used a 12 volt motor mounted above the axle pumpkin connected to the U joint (belt),,, ....for reverse. On mine.. with the Cj Jeep rear end.... they removed first gear.... and installed a reverse gear... drilled a hold in the engine case for a cable to the reverse gear...How it works... spit out the gum.... Place bike in neutral .... pull in stock clutch... .. pull reverse lever.... let stock clutch out... Ta DA ! t backs up. Get new stick of gum.... As a result... the trike has 4 forward gears.. 2nd', 3rd', 4th and 5th.
