Programmable advance TCI Replacement

Yes sir; I think a big part of this project, at least my involvement, is to get a TCI replacement that's as affordable, reliable and as plug-n-play as possible.

PS - I'm just a shade tree mechanic that can type some words...

No Sir this is a cooperative effort .. People have different backgrounds and experience.
Some can Carburetors some can Electrics. a little better
No one here as far as I know has a Nobel price in anything.
You have been around .. That is obvious. Keep on participate.
Different views and background. Opinions. Is Natural in evolution and development.
For progress.

I sent Jim a procedure to upgrade the firmware and I currently modify it to get use of the second idle pickup, hoping it'll ease the starter....
Thierry, Got a diagram on how to plug in the idle pickup? I know one side will go to the common tap, where does the signal lead connect?

No rush on an answer. Sposed to be below zero tomorrow. I ain't goin' out there... 🥶

idle pickup goes to the small green wire. No rush either, I still have to test the firmware before the upgrade...

I don't remember if we talked about the second pickup, the one at 15° btdc
we saw the 40° is definitely a PN type (first pulse positive) but is the other the same? Not sure because of the common gnd...
I'll send to Jim a new FW to use the 15° pkp for the first 10sec to avoid kick-back then it'll switch to the 40°

OK Thierry.... been a while.

I've finally got my run stand set up and running off the Yamaha factory TCI system... crank pickup, box, the whole works. Actually runs pretty damn good. Got my laptop set up next to it... strobe, scope, Fluke meter... ready to roll. I went to the address you sent me last winter in a PM and the link's dead. No way to update the firmware.
So whenever you're ready, we'll pick up where we left off.

What with my foot surgery... and this and that... and on an' on... I been taking a break from it. If anyone want's to pick up the gauntlet, I'll be more than happy to hand it over. Otherwise it looks like it'll be springtime...
