Chances are if it’s not budging that head will need to come off. Can you see down the plug holes as to the severity of the cylinder walls?
I am probably going to have to, but will give it a few more tries first. I did obtain a bore light, and will try and have a look. I will open my manual and start familiarizing myself with the removal process, regardless!Chances are if it’s not budging that head will need to come off. I definitely have.Have you gone through a couple "heat/cool" cycles?
I'm with ya!Time to get serious...
Everyone that I have tried doing that to had scoring in the cylinder from rust So the head had to come off anyway. when things sit outside for 20 plus years things happen. Funny though, every issue has been in the top end. Lower cases and components were all fine.
I had hoped that you could free it up...
Does scoring mean terminal death? A scored cylinder mean maybe higher oil consumption and less compression, but, is an engine going to die because of scoring?Everyone that I have tried doing that to had scoring in the cylinder from rust So the head had to come off anyway. when things sit outside for 20 plus years things happen. No but mine were bad enough the potential downsides of piston ring wear, loss of oil pressure/blow-by and compression prompted me to just do what was inevitable.Does scoring mean terminal death? You are absolutely spot on about that! After what I found today, there is no doubt, that it needed to come apart. In the end you’ll be glad you did tear it down.
Whoever slathered that RTV on there should be flogged.Success, the pistons and rings have been freed from their frozen resting place!! However, the top end is pretty nasty. As I suspected, it looks like the LH cylinder was the one that was rusted up. The RH cylinder was full of gunk, as well as the two magnets that I lost in there, what was left of some threads of something, the bottom part of the electrode of the plug that was broken off in the head, and a whole lot of metal swarf. Yes, it definitely needed to come apart.

Wow, the DPO sure liked that sealer.

Nothing like a broken head bolt for proper sealing!

The Head is Off. Kroil not making a dent, apparently.

LH Cylinder was the Rusty One. No Surprise, as that one had the Spark Plug Out

For sure. It's also the same guy who wasn't going to drill out the broken head bolt. If you look up ham-fisted in the dictionary, there is a picture of himWhoever slathered that RTV on there should be flogged.
