After 35 years of riding, this is my first XS… always wanted one, but spent most of my time going too fast or cruising on old gl1000’s…love the personality of the bike!… been tweaking it the last 2 months…

That looks like a real ripper, congratulations!

Multi-Position Shock Mounts for Swing Arms :

I reckon it could be a Radian arm with Cheney mounts welded on :lmao:

Or...the whole darn thing (can't tell from pics)🤔

Here's mine. 1974 TX650 I bought it about three years ago in terrible condition: top crankcase ripped apart, no compression, badly stretched cam chain, drive chain even worse, badly rusted and oxidised.
It's been a long project, not a lot of Yamaha left now. Along the way I've added VM carbs, cooler, remote filter and a PMA. Machined up spin on filter base, extended manifolds, pancake filters, PMA mount, brake block, fuel distributor, chain adjusters, single points cam, hubs, risers, fabricated tail light, side covers, engine mounts, seat, battery carrier, headlight brackets, two harnesses, chain guard, exhaust pipess, mufflers, muffler hangers, pipe brackets. Rebuilt the motor, rebored .50 over, new pistons, cam chain, seals gaskets, bearings, guides, stainless allen's, et al. Laced the wheels with stainless spokes. Done lots and lots of polishing and painted it in two pack paint.
All but finished now, seat covered, tyres fitted, currently hooking up a magnetic sensor speedo.
Another calendar nomination?

Hey all! Not my first xs, as I used to have a nice lil xs400, but this is my new to me 80 xs850 triple. Loving it so far, it runs and rides great! I think it needs new lower bars though....
Nice scoot! Shiny n clean. Those 850s have some go. CB750 bars get rid of the awkward wrist bend but still keep your hands fairly high for a comfortable ride .....

Try putting them lower toward the tank in the handshake position. If that doesn’t work ditch it.
Your back is stronger than mine, that low handshake hand position always gets me slouching, rounded over back, pain quickly follows.
I took to straightening the "handlebars" on the old ventures to get rid of that low vertical hand position.
I want my wrists straight not cocked when riding, but we all are bit different.

I'm going to change the "early XS650" handlebars for CB750 bars for the same reason, too much sweep back on the Yammy bars.

I rode all day Saturday with the T140 bar. It works well for me too, but for a slight bit of arthritis aggravation in my shoulders.
Slouching hurts me too, but leaning on my wrists hurts more. I found myself trying to sit all the way up on the tank riding the RE Interceptor last fall.

Hi Guys
Cool thread, just thought I'd show my 76c, bought it off a guy for $1 a cc. It had been sitting in the elements for about 4 years on his front nature strip. Anyway that was about 18 years back.
Started the build in 2020. Unfortunately I didn't take before pics. It runs and rides but still needs an engine run in to seat the rings.
She's mostly standard except for Shell #1 cam, some port blending, Mikuni 36 flat slides with pods and TriSpark Compas ignition and pipes.
A few pics attached, hope you enjoy.
Cheers
Lucky

You’ve posted pics of this bike before. I copied a couple of them. I like it.

It does move pretty good! Fun to ride, still getting used to the shaft drive. Different feel, to me. It just so happens that I have a set of stock CB750F bars hanging around...maybe I will swap those over and see what they look like! Otherwise I will just grab a set of black tracker bars somewhere, that seems like a good fit as well.
