I'm rehabilitating a 1972 XS2 with the goofy, one-year-only, front hub/brake setup. While rebuilding the front brake caliper and installing a new front tire, I discovered that the front axle is bent, although the front wheel doesn't show any sign of damage. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time determining the front axle part number from various on-line parts fiches (cmsnl.com, yamahapartshouse, etc), which list the following part numbers on their XS2 parts schematics:

341 25181 01 00 [this part number appears as struck-through]
99999-04072-00 [this number is indicated as superceding the 341 part]
306-25181-00-00

I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out which part number is correct. In the end I wound up going to eBay, searching for an XS2 front axle, and finding a listing for an NOS front axle that had the original packaging indicating 306-25181-00-00. So I'm reasonably certain that is correct.

For reference, attached is a pic from from this thread that shows the differences between XS1, XS2 and later year axles.

Yep; CMSNL says 3 in stock without the incorrect supersession - albeit they incorrectly attribute it to an XS1 (that would take a 256 axle). The 341 axle won't work either as it doesn't have the extra step machined for the disc carrier on the XS2 (would need shortened and machined)
