What have you done to your XS today?

In the last 4-5yrs I've dealt with about 6 bad TCI boxes. I have two on the shelf right now and recently tested one for Gary. They all start and idle just fine. They start breaking up as you add throttle and the advance curve kicks in. In short, I've not seen a single one that just completely failed. So... that may have been your experience, mines been completely opposite.
Fwiw, I hope it is the carbs Adam. That's prolly the cheapest fix.
Fingers crossed @Jim, still waiting on the strobe. I guess TCI boxes are unobtainium? So it would be a used on fro fLea-bay / auto jumble.

36 mile loop in our side of the county.
Bike runs like a clock, I should run as fine......
Came home with "Little Deuce Coop" on my organic music player "Well, I'm not bragging babe so don't put me down".
At this point in the adventure I think I'll just maintain and fix what gets broke.

This would explain my intermittent turn signal operation. A broken solder joint will do that. This is inside the left-hand control pod, under the turn signal pivot. I guess we'll see how good I am with a soldering iron.

I just made the same repair. All three of mine failed.

Damn, I made the fix, put it all back together and patted myself on the back for a job well done, but now I realize I should have touched up the other two.

Didn't do anything on my XS, but got enamored with the idea of making aluminum fenders for the XS Project. Hammered out this reduced-size proof-of-concept piece, using my freshly-fabbed planishing hammer. Got to develop a little more skill and technique, but seems very doable. The finish on the fender is not sanded or finished in any way, thats straight from the planisher. Anyone else doing any metal forming?

Finally got around to making a larger fender, albeit only for a Rupp minibke project. Still in the proof-of-concept stage in anticipation of making aluminum fenders for Project XS. Not good enough to fully polish, but good enough for the intended use.

Installation was straight forward and took all of 20 minutes:

Truth is told; I think I prefer the chrome ones on the bike aesthetically. In hindsight maybe should have gone with the HAGONS.

Test ride to follow once I sort the Ignition / Fuelling issues. And side by side shot of both will be loaded.
Let me know what you think when done.

More to the point, you let us know what you think. Looking forward to the test ride report - hopefully these will give a more compliant ride and not launch you over the bars when you hit a pothole.

Looking good.

Have you gone for same length as the old shocks?

Cheers, Raymond

About 10mm longer than what came off, should sharpen the steering a tad.
