Any reviews on Viet Nam made batteries, advising of good bad or ugly. I most recently bought an acid type from Napa, with a 3 month warranty? and after adding acid, by the numbers on instruction sheet, charge on 1 amp 12 hours or so, the hydrometer readings are not anywhere near even from cell to cell, and range from 1100-1225 at best. So I returned it for another? So far It has read about the same specs as the first one? Have not bothered to install as of yet? Wonder about a heads up from anyone on this made in South East Asia battery?
Thank you for your service

Did the battery charge? It should be at 12.7 volts after sitting unused and off of the charger for an hour or so. I don't fret about batteries, they're just consumables like tires and brake pads. Doesn't bother me to pay $50 for a lead acid battery every 2-3 years. Never understood why lawn mower batteries are $30-$40, last for years and are the same construction as a MC battery.

When they make the plates they make two sorts. These look about the same. I was told by a manufacturer (in Los Angeles) of wet batteries while touring/walking the factory, that occasionally the workers phuckedup and put a few of the wrong plates in the assembly jig. I'd expect better than that from Asia.

I prefer Asian AGMs in the Yamaha and the Harleys.

A load tester and a known good meter and a reference voltage check and the proper charging all go together. I wouldn't get too focused on specific gravity - it's a bit subtle and indirect, and lags in time and varies with temperature - and some cells may be hotter than others. Adding electrolyte to a dry battery changes the temperature, and the rate may vary between cells. HG check ought to occur after 24 hours of normalization at temperature specified, but I wouldn't bother. Simply use an automatic charger to it's design cut-off, wait 24 hours, check voltage (12.7 @ STP) and do the load test according to manufacturer. The repeat.
That's two days, but there's lots of beer time in between.

Good Luck amigo. Motorcycle require great peace of mind...which is the idea.
