Not necessarily. They also perform well when the majority of your journeys tend to be local. We have a range of 45 miles in the summer :) and 30 :( in the winter. That's been enough to do just over 70% by distance and 85% by time on battery power. The balance is when we venture further afield...

    Long intakes with linked carbs

According to Phil Irving in Tuning for Speed, good results are obtained with a length of 90in. divided by the revs in thousands (the r.p.m. at which you want to get the maximum effect). The measurement is taken from the head of the valve to the mouth of the inlet. for 6000 r.p.m -...

Electric Vehicles, Hybrids...Battery tech... Land Air and Sea. Let's See 'em.

Even if that were the case I can't imagine how practical it would be. Stand at a fuel station and count how many vehicle pass through per hour; that would equate to the minimum number of batteries they would need to charge. That's assuming that they can charge the number required and that the...

Putting the battery on top of the swinging arm

It would be better mounted under the s/a as this would lower the C of G. The only downside I can think of is that the electricery would have to go uphill.................................

can you do a re-bore with a file?

I did manage to do a bore with a file once...talked about files for about an hour and 47 minutes by which time the piston had lost the will to live. When I tried to do a re-bore it just walked off. Let that be a lesson to you.

can you do a re-bore with a file?

Perhaps the Mancunian dampness has affected his thinking? But to answer th question, yes, of course you can but you will need to acquire a special sort of file to do the job. It looks like this....

    Stripped phillips screw

Perhaps, due to my excellent engineering skills () (+ my torque wrench and Plus Gas) or perhaps divine intervention, I've not had to resort to using extractors.

    Stripped phillips screw

If you choose this route use a LH drill for the pilot hole. As this turns anti clockwise it may well undo the screw as you drill. I would be concerned about using the smallest extractor as they will be easier to break if too much torque is applied....then the problems really start!

Adam, you keep posting what you like and if others don't like it then that's their problem.....now where did I put my Flying Lizards LP's?

    Speedometer cable lubricant

Yamaha recommend their chain and cable lube or 10/30 SAE motor oil

    Spark plugs

Relative to what? It will have to meet the emission requirements of the intended market and pass whatever type approval standards are in place. I suspect that your average motorcycle will use similar hardware and software to achieve this.

    Spark plugs

From what you write I suspect it is relatively new(?) and therefore fitted with a cat? Assuming this is the case then the the mixture will be controlled by the electronics and unless 'cheating' software is installed then it will be as the factory or local legislation intended. Ride your bike and...

    Spark plugs

As Mr I.B.A.L.T. says they don't look bad. A few points to ponder: Is the material thickness (base metal and chroming) the exactly same thickness - if not they may react slightly differently to the heat cycles. If they are they single walled then bluing is normal. It could be that it is the...
