    Metallic tapping rattle...!

Hi all This is my first classic bike. It has been off the road after a 24 year layup. I really love it. 33k. 79 Se Special and she lives in the UK. I have done a lot to the bike, but all I had to do to (so far!) the engine was an oil change, set the valves and the chain tensioner. The...

Wanted - '79 special right hand carb body

Hello, thought I would give you an update. I thought that I had repaired it using a pillar drill and tapped it. Was ok for a while and despite the floats being set well and it all seemed to measure up ok, its just started leaking again.

Which carb? can't set floats.... 1979 SE

I've checked the brass floats and they are fine. These are the needles. The guy I got them from thinks they are for a 1980 se and should be ok. I really have no idea. They are new and the plunger at the top work fine. Just noticed that the rubber around the seat looks flush, maybe that's the...

Which carb? can't set floats.... 1979 SE

Hi all, I am going over my carbs and I have a bit of a float setting issue. I have already posted on this but I am still stuck. On the earlier post someone said they are 34's and another said that they may not be off a 650. The problem is that the floats leak however I set them- which leads me...

    which carb is this?

Hi all, im checking the floats on my 1979 and one float is approx 24 and the other is about 27mm. the right hand carb is leaking fuel from the bottom air intake from the airbox and that's the one which is set to the 24mm setting. Points to that one being wrong but I have included some photo's...

I can only select 1st and neutral...

Hi All Ive never ridden this bike before as I have been restoring it after its 25 year hibernation. It actually moved under its own power for the first time yesterday, only a few feet but hey! I found its prone to stalling when 1st is selected, but a bigger issue is that it refuse to select...

    hi all.

the rev counter doesn't work on my '79. I don't know if it ever has as even though it came with the bike it wasn't on it when I got it. The new cable spins from the engine and I used a electric drill from the engine end but the rev counter doesn't work. I take it this is the right type for my...
