they seem tight, how would I double check aside from a visual inspection? What I need is to make buddies with someone else that has an xs so that I can borrow parts like carbs and boots so I can see if they're the issue.

That's great. I've made no progress. My petcocks are not vaccuumed, my cam timing is good, my ignition timing is close, my jets are where they should be, and my carb was cleaned about 10 times and soaked in an acid bath at a shop with new gaskets. I think I'm honestly ready to sell it.

Finally figured it out. Luckily the dude that was welding my tail light on knew a hillbilly that worked for beer and he helped me out a ton. we bored the 30 pilots out to .040 with a drill bit and it fired right up perfect, then test drove and bored the 140 main out to .063. I guess it was...

I just want to make clear this, choke on this bike is push down and choke off is up right?

I did a bench syncing and it was off but i see little to no change. If I pull the choke and screw the idle screw all the way out it wants to run decent with a highish idle. Cleaned the pilot circuits once again.

what would something stupid like, switching the plug wires do?

The entire wiring harness is new. The barbs on the carb are blocked with some home made looking caps but I know they're tight because I can see the vacuum making them 'breath' in and out.

Carbs off and on, cleaned again, mix screw turned out to 4 full and in to 1 full. idle screwed dinked with, taped off the filters to see if it was too much air getting in and checked the valves for clearance. Still no progress.
