Again I want to thank you for your help with the brake issue. It’s great to be able to...

    Rear brake arm kicking back

Hey man. So I got everything back together and what I did was rotate the bracket on the drum about 180 degrees. I buttoned everything up and checked the brake (not riding) on my driveway to see if I got any kick back and I didn’t. I’m going to take it for a spin around my neighborhood and make...

    Rear brake arm kicking back

Ok so the previous owner welded the tab in the wrong spot. I am going to have to either buy a longer piece of threaded rod so I can get the stay at 90 degrees and then I might need a longer length for the brake arm to reach the pedal. The plus side of this is I’m a machinist so I have the...

That’s crazy man! Luckily you’re ok and no serious damage was done. I will be trying to get my brake back to normal today. Unfortunately it’s like extremely hot and humid in Jersey today so I’m really not looking forward to it at all. Rich

Hi Everyone I recently tightened my chain on my 1977 XS650 Bobber and readjusted the rear drum brake but now when I press on the brake arm it’s pushing back on me and I’m not using a lot of pressure on it. Has anyone have this happen? Thanks Rich

    Smoking exhaust

Hey guys So I added fresh fuel and that seemed to cure the smoke issue I was having. I want to thank you all for your advice and will keep you all posted on how it’s riding. I wanted to take it out when I added the new gas but as I was adjusting my throttle cable the brass adjuster on top of...

    Smoking exhaust

Thank you all for the quick responses & thank you for the welcome. I have not been able to check the compression because I don’t have a compression gauge which I will get some time this week. My mechanical skills are mostly on cars and very little on motorcycles. I am a machinist so Hi NJ1639...

    Smoking exhaust

Hi Lou Thanks for the reply. I did not drain the older gas before I added new gas. However I did empty my tank this weekend and pulled the carbs to see if there was any varnish but they were as clean as can be which didn’t surprise me because thePO said he just put them on in November. My one...
