That’s exactly what I think! I’ve been reading a ton on people with similar bikes to the xs and everyone seems to be pointing to air leak! The vacuum lines on my carb have slipped off before and have had a similar effect on the bike but I didn’t want to fiddle with them in fear of messing up...

I’m for sure running the correct oil. I have no additives in it either it’s Castrol 20w-50 used 2 and a half quarts. The container says it’s specifically made for 2 stroke motorcycle engines.

I thought I did the adjustment for a slipping clutch but maybe the video wasn’t right for my bike. I loosened up the cable up top and loosened the nut at the bottom and used a Philip screwdriver to adjust the tension by feeling when it hits a point and setting it as soon as I feel tension.

You think my clutch could still be slipping?

Ok so lube up the advance shaft? And I saw that I was missing a retaining clip could that effect the bike that much?

Ok just a quick question… if my top dead center is off, shouldn’t me adjusting my timing at least change how it performs a little? Could valves be an issue still? Is there a possibility that a tight valve could cause this issue?

Would this work in finding top dead center? Sorry I just can’t quite wrap my head around all the terminology used. Still quite new to the mechanic scene. Also what does BOT mean? And I’m not throttling at all. I use to easily coast down that hill in third now it wants to decelerate.

No it doesn’t occur when shifting its almost as if I’m not shifting at all… my rpm’s don’t come down when shifting… well they do just not as much as they should. The difference between second and third is literally next to nothing. When shifting from second to third the rpm’s drop maybe 100-300
