    XS2 ongoing carb problems

This may be a bit long winded but I am obviusly missing something so will relate the history of my problem I stripped cleaned and rebuilt (exceprt for the throttle shaft bushings and seals) the carbs on my 72 XS2 and following advise from here, purchased genuine Mikuni parts. The bike starts and...

    XS2 Headlight

I did some research on this and the car buffs seem to recommend a flexible sealer like a butyl type sealant. I am not going to try undoing the crimp and pulling the lense to seal behind it, so I will see what I can find that I can force under the metal lip. Thanks for the responses.

    XS2 Headlight

I think I’ve answered my own question. I am able to rotate the lens in the housing. So this has been disassembled and reassembled. I have it aligned, but I’m just wondering how to seal it and keep it aligned.

    XS2 Headlight

Right after I posted this, I took a closer look. It appears the headlight has been modified and has a halogen lamp in it. I am now guessing that somebody disassembled it and didn’t get her aligned when they put it back together. Is that a common conversion?

    XS2 Headlight

I just noticed that the headlight in my 72 XS2 it rotated a few degrees to the right when you’re facing the bike. I’ve attached a photo. It is a stock headlight, and none of the mounting lugs or tabs appear to have been moved. The headlight bucket is mounted straight and true. Has anyone...

I found a used lens and socket just a couple of minutes ago on eBay. I think it was more luck than anything. Thanks all for the help!

    XS2 High Ben indictor

I am looking for some decent pictures of the OEM high beam indicator assembly for my 72 650. Part of mine looks original but the bulb/socket assembly looks home made. I would greatly appreciate if someone could post some pictures of the whole assembly as I can’t find anything decent online...

    Carb issue

So here’s where I’m at today. I pulled the carb apart and went through it and cleaned it. Nothing spectacular showed up anywhere, and I also blew the whole thing out with compressed air. Still made no difference and the left side w would not fire at all. I turned my attention to the points and...

    Carb issue

Float height was too high. I did drop it. I measured without the gasket. Is that correct?

    Carb issue

I pulled the car apart and looks like all new parts inside. The mid range needle was on the bottom clip so I moved it up according to the shop manual. I put it all back together, and it seemed to start better, but the left side is still not firing at idle. if I bring the left side up off idle...

    Carb issue

I am having some issues with the left carb on my XS2. it’s been a lot of years since I’ve been into one and wanted to ask a couple questions and pose the problem before I get into it. The left cylinder is not firing at idle, and if I play with the throttle and gently bring it up off idle, it...

Hi Raymond, Thanks for the compliment on the bike. It needs a little bit more work to finish it off but not much. The previous owner put a lot of effort into it. My plan is just to keep it stock and ride it on sunny days. a bit about me: I am 68, not retired yet. done a bit of everything in...
