    WTF pictures

... and I thought screwing 5/16 headed screws into a set of fairly worn knobbies and driving in a New England winter was a little off the beaten path.

https://greenbay.craigslist.org/mcy/d/seymour-1977-yamaha-xs650/7769640113.html I really like this, especially the side covers and frame. Unfortunately there is too much missing or wrong.

'79 Special project closet to Lewiston ME at a decent price. Pretty enough, but you can't ride it. https://maine.craigslist.org/mcy/d/auburn-1979-xs650-yamaha/7776909450.html Damn I can't type. Extra lysdexic this morning - 2 lines, 2 edits for 3 errors.

    Electrolysis Rust Removal ???

Trying to set myself for for the problems I expect to encounter. A rust gas tank is one of them. Has anyone used electrolysis rust removal in a gas tank followed by a copper flash and nickle plating? I've done small brackets, belt pulleys and things before. It was actually fun doing the mad...

    ‘77 XS650 get it running

It is scary the first time through. There are just so many little bits and pieces. Take lots of pic. An index card fits inside a 4x6 zip lock, which is good for keeping things labeled and togeather. You may want to pick up a carb jet cleaner set. They are cheap and good for poking out the smeg...

Shipping Cross Country - Any experience or knowledge?

Fair enough. No reason to doubt your word, and I will trust a human over the interweb any day. Will call on Monday and find out about a title. 5k + maybe 750 shipping + 10% in fees. fines and FUs .... Bit more than I was looking to pay, but that 77D appears to be a lot more than I was looking...

Found an interesting distraction this morning.

Have been searching diligently recently. Switched up some search terms and found this. https://york.craigslist.org/mcd/d/york-1976-triumph-650/7772989939.html I know even less about these. What I do know is that in the mid 90's heads were uberunobtainium and Zener diodes are a horror show.

Shipping Cross Country - Any experience or knowledge?

I agree that sure is pretty. Trust my life for about 1k miles of highway driving on 47 year old bike I have no idea who has been doing the maintenance on - no thank you. I agree about the appearance. One thing I learned the hard way more than once playing with 4 wheeled things - super shiny is...

Shipping Cross Country - Any experience or knowledge?

Thanks for the info! Uship is indicating $575 from Atlanta GA to a town south west of Boston MA. Haulbikes wanted way too much info to get a ballpark quote. This is sitting in GA? Any thoughts? https://motorcycles.autotrader.com/motorcycles/1977/yamaha/xs650/201559653 Price seems high, but...

Shipping Cross Country - Any experience or knowledge?

Anyone with experience or recommendations on shipping a an XS sight unseen? Just went looking at shipping an XS650 from LA to Boston. Quotes online came up between 1,100 to 1,500. OUCH!, but pricing of everything stopped making sense to me right after the world got sick.

Should we be afraid of Artificial Intelligence?

Odd how they used women's voices for all that circular speaking.

Should we be afraid of Artificial Intelligence?

We are just at the very beginning - like before their were movies with sound. Today we have mostly adolescent algorithms and infant AI. They are different things, mostly and both are being abused. What gets me is why they started working on artificial intelligence when they haven't found a...

Should we be afraid of Artificial Intelligence?

I was a cultural anthropologist working for a museum at one point in my life. Every single thing human kind has ever invented can be used as a weapon and in some point in history has been used as a weapon. This has been true since we were vining sharp rocks to sticks, (Yes, I know that is...

    ‘77 XS650 get it running

Carbs are scary the first few times. Digital film is cheap. Take lots of pictures. It will make reassembly much easier and add to the confidence level. (You may want to set up a little tool kit for just carbs. All the right clean tools in one place make the job easier.) There is a great cleaner...

Sorry to hear about your friend. Looks like he didn't completely leave. I do not know lot about these and what I do know is from the mid 90s. I do know a lot about old British cars. Digital film is cheap. Take pics as you take things apart and you have a guide to put them pack togeather...

Make Offer - ATTN Southern New England folks! '78 XS650 Special

It helps when you scroll, huh? I saw the images up top and stopped. You have done a lot of the ugly stuff already, and done it well! The electric foot works?!?!? Only time mine did (stock ignition) that was when it was fresh off the charger. Not what I am looking for unfortunately.
