    Washing machine woes

I kicked my GE washer to the curb a year ago after the tub seal began leaking. It was just 5 years old and did on average 1.5 loads a week. POS. I tried fixing it by watching tutorials on pulling the tub and replacing the seal, except my newer whiz bang unit had the seal as a non-removable...

    The lazy generation

The only thing kids have better today is access to information, and half of it is a pack of lies. I honestly cant see how many of them are going to have a decent life. Everything is stacked against them it seems.

Help with Mikuni Bs34SS carbs on a suzuki gs

If spraying carb cleaner on the throttle shafts causes the bike to die then they are obviously leaking. It would also cause a lean high idle.

Upgrade an "Old" Computer to Windows 11? Why not...

Thanks Skull. Brave has ad and tracker blocking. It makes YouTube usable. Some sites have over 60 trackers being blocked. I'm slowing moving everything over to one Proton account.

Upgrade an "Old" Computer to Windows 11? Why not...

If you are curious, you can make a live USB, boot from it, and test it out without installing it permanently on your hard drive. If you decide it's worth a go, you can install it from the USB stick. You can also install it next to Windows as a dual-boot, so you can choose which OS you want to...

Upgrade an "Old" Computer to Windows 11? Why not...

I tried Win 11 and it just seemed creepy to me. I have been using boring old Ubuntu for a few years now and it just works. Ooops, Apple lawsuit incoming.....

Replacement front disc rotor thoughts - Offsets, dimensions, compatibility

I think most of my issue was caused by subtle differences between the re-pop caliper and an OEM Yamaha one. Some judicious filing and hammer tuning worked out the kinks. Neither product was bad, just some tolerance stacking so to speak.

Anyone run with just a FL rotor?

Probably stronger to put the mounting bosses in compression instead of tension.

    Niche Cycle drilled brake rotors

Well, I'll be jiggered if that didn't solve the problem, spins freely now with no scraping. The clearance to the calipers is insanely close though, both on the rotor periphery and between the button heads and the inside of the caliper frame. I'm not sure if I like it. I have contacted the seller...

    Niche Cycle drilled brake rotors

Perhaps I mislead you, I was referring to he clearance between the outer friction surface ring and the inner black plate that bolts to the wheel. It looks like there is a small gap between the two where they are fixed by the buttons. Maybe the two weren't perfectly centered before they were...

    Niche Cycle drilled brake rotors

Up and down. I might just tap them in towards the hub. There may be some clearance between the rotor and the inner hub. Looks like it in the photo.

    Niche Cycle drilled brake rotors

Closer measuring has them .035" out on the right, 0.055" out of concentric on the left ( as sitting in the bike). Not ideal, but the amount of actual interference may be enough to live with after some fitting of the caliper. Not a great start to this mod at all. Turns out the original caliper...

    Niche Cycle drilled brake rotors

Anyone running these? I decided to splurge instead of fitting old Maxim rotors again and the lack of concentricity is making it very difficult to fit them. They are easily .100" out of concentric with the wheel hub, and every rotation has them trying to cut through the caliper like a salami...

Best fixes/ upgrades for stock TCI ignition?

Where are you testing, at the plug? As someone who had a TCI bike, I found it was common for the ignition wires to drag on the chain behind the left case cover, eventually leading to the wire being severed. It starts out as rough running and the occasional stall.

I'm back, like shingles, except less entertaining

XSive again. Has new Hagon shocks and fork springs, new stator and rec/rec, electronic ignition, new brushes, a crash bar and adjustable padded backrest with carrying rack. OK, the last two are largely redundant, but more parts to trip over is always good. Truth be told, except for the seat and...

Retiring Baby Boomers leave hole in the job market

Yup, the most far fetched thing in Star Trek wasn't flying at 10 times light speed and returning home to find everyone a few months older than when you left, but the perfection of human nature it would have taken to make that type of society workable.
