    WTF pictures

The Lonely Camp In the fall of 1948, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game loaded seventy-six live beavers into airplanes and parachuted them into the backcountry wilderness of the Chamberlain Basin. Every single beaver survived the drop. The problem that led to this was straightforward. Idaho...

Oil consumption; long trip was good for the rings? In retrospect would have been good time to pour a can of techron in the gas (keep in mind for next longer drive?) That darned DB can sit cross legged on the pavement and then stand with no use of the hands or any part touching the ground...

Waking up dad's TX650 in Colorado

If the steering bearings and front tire are in good nick it's not really needed. But if the bearings are loose worn notched and or the tire is cupped a nasty front oscillation can ramp up at speed. Tightening the damper can reduce that. I had it happen in my feckless youth on a 71. Occurrence...

    Just Ride.

You had to ask dintjya? This is a 93 with a standard sportster motor (5 speed). So yeah the Africa Twin would smoke it. Low RPM roll on power is the forte. Redline is 6K barely past where an XS650 wakes up LOL Not extreme but a cafe, rider position ensures I won't be doing any 3 hour...

Carlisle gets good reviews, I bought a pair of Carlisle Long haul on rims from Etrailer, put them on the little bike hauler, That was nine years and 6,000 miles ago? they are still doing "fine". Went out and took a look, they are doing great. After 9 years of outside storage they are still...

Why Your Engine Might Be Starved for Zinc You might be wondering, if zinc is so beneficial, why isn’t it in all motor oils at high levels? The answer lies in modern emission control systems. Starting in the mid-1990s and progressively tightening since, regulations were put in place to reduce...

    Emulator Knock off

One YEAR later............. ;) Everything seems so obvious when I'm hammering out posts in a thread like this, then going over it a year later I'm WTF were we doing, talking about? Now I can't remember if I put the stock legs back on the 73 before it got sent down the river, or if II left those...

Funny when @DogBunny showed up with Super Rust Bucket there was some muttering about that thing will be breaking down constantly on the ride... I just said it'll be fine. And it ran great /flawless and it's not even overly loud... That was a thing with this rally; the bikes ran great, no issues...

    Just Ride.

Time to wake the Westwind! Added a battery tender/accessory port up near the handlebars, poured in some fuel and brm brrm. I drain the fuel from the (lined) fiberglass tank when I'm not riding it. Put on mebby 20 miles, all good, then a bit of horsing around. ;^) She'll sit on it, but won't...

Since this has turned into an oil thread. :cautious::unsure::lmao: I'll throw in Valvoline VR1 20W50 as a high zinc oil that has never bothered any of my XS650 clutches. Note that last line, most motor oils DO have some zinc these just have more...
