That's interesting using the rear engine mount and the front top engine mount with the chain on the outer side of the mounts. Engine lifts nice and level. Presumably, put the bottom bolt in through the lower frame rail first. Then the rear mount plates. Then the front mount at the down tubes.

What a shame. For all it's problems, at least my Back From The Dead project 650 was timed correctly. At least you found the problem easily enough.

Thanks. In your opinion then, is it worth a transatlantic flight to attend for a few days? If not, then no big deal. I just thought it might be a good idea, naturally I wouldn't have a bike with me.

Very much tempted to attend this if there's a 2027 rally. Just checked the flight options and I think it's doable :)

As above, unfortunately, new isn't always the same as good these days. Especially with Chinese electronics.

Sounds very much like something related to the Gonzo. I fear you will not find anything if it's a fault inside the Gonzo box itself. Hopefully it's a wiring issue that you can see and fix.

Yes, I haven't been able to ride my 650 since fitting a set of Renthal bars. I think the ones I replaced were US spec CB750 bars much higher and wider than the Renthals. I'm actually not so sure you're going to find any longer mirror stems?

These are marginally longer, 8" from mirror centre to mount. If that's any use I can link to the eBay listing that I bought them off. They were dirt cheap and I was surprised that they're actually OK. Snag is of course I'm in the UK. But for sure other sellers will have them.

It's possible to use a master cylinder banjo bolt/brake light switch combined. Brembo, Goodridge and probably many others make them.

Relatively inexpensive to try a Gonzo box *. Several members here are running them in place of the stock TCI box. I think one member makes pigtails to ensure using a Gonzo is plug and play. Apologies, I don't remember who makes them. There's threads in the forum about doing the conversion. *...

I don't know of a Yamaha part. I bought rear shock eye rubbers for a set of Hagon shocks last year. They're available and they're out there. I think getting imaginative on eBay could be a good bet. Heiden Tuning are selling these. Probably available at other XS650 shops -...

Copper washers for the banjo fittings are commodity items and available in many places. Sometimes aluminium is used instead of copper, that's fine. I recommend annealing the copper washers before use. That's, heat them to red, air cool or cool in water. Take care not to overheat and melt the...

Well spotted. And that's a very good reason why the seal isn't seated in that picture either.
