Actually made something useful with my 3D printer.

With all this stuff way over my head I should probably be wearing a hard hat or motorcycle helmet 24-7!

For Sale - Rewound Alternator Rotor

Boy the old brain was not working right when I wrote that, it was an RD200 not an XS200 was there ever such a thing as an XS200? Not sure if I mentioned it before but I have been diagnosed with early stages of Parkinson's so I guess it was kicking in big time when I wrote that one!

For Sale - Rewound Alternator Rotor

I may have mentioned it before but I had a xs200 where the plate with the copper rings on it came loose, screw striped threads and the ceramic disk cracked. Figured I had nothing to loose so got new screws and mixed up epoxy and reassembled. After the epoxy set over night chucked rotor in lathe...

Getting the ‘57 beetle back on the road in 2024

Lots of luck and post some pictures, I know those VW's can float but don't try going over the falls!

Looking for thoughts and ideas on Helmets.

For years I have always worn full face helmets and used intercoms. A few years back(2-3) we purchased a pair of Scorpion EXO helmets with their included intercoms. Before that I had a HJC SY-Max III helmet and wife had a Nolan Helmet and we used SENA SMH10B intercoms. I was pretty happy...

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

Not sure if I already mentioned it but I had a RD200 many years ago. Well it was actually wife's bike. I took it out for a short ride and it started running bad and making some strange sounds. Forget if I made it home or had to call for wife to bring truck. Pulled it apart in side porch of the...

For Sale - Rewound Alternator Rotor

Or maybe the alternator wire is not as good because it is made to carry alternating current not the better wire like they used for DC current! Yep! the alternating current wears out the molecules from all the switching of the direction of flow!

Getting the ‘57 beetle back on the road in 2024

Getting confused now! I know the 1966 VW we had the battery was under the seat on the right/behind the front passengers seat.

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

I have one of about the same vintage, maybe not as good looking but still works! Actually looking for someone to buy it. Had an electrician replacing a dining room light yesterday and he did take a picture for a friend. No idea what to ask for it, I bought it probably 30 years ago!

    Any Ford Falcon owners?

Reading this story about the old Falcon brought back a memory of a cousin to the Falcon, brother's Mercury Comet if I recall right! His was about the same color as Wideawakes Falcon. I may have posted it before about the time he stopped at a local bargain store to pick up oil and filter for it...

Getting the ‘57 beetle back on the road in 2024

When I had to replace the flywheel on my 1966 Corvair I pulled the engine on the cement floor in an old barn on what was the floor for the cow stalls. I had an old flat plate of steel with four steel wheels, lifted and lowered the back of the car with a chain jack hung from the bottom of the hay...

Getting the ‘57 beetle back on the road in 2024

Not to be too fussy but I keep seeing the title of this thread! To be real honest I have many "projects" that will out last me I'm sure!

    Interesting motorcycles, not XS650

As I recall the biggest problem I had with the Kawasaki was if you rode it nice a gentle like in city traffic then came to open highways it would stumble a lot till you opened it up in lower gears. I also recall my wife at the time had fun out accelerating the young teens from the school...

    Whats your weather right now?

Here in Central New York temp is right around 32 degrees F. Light snow over night, not enough to bother snow blowing drive. Might try to get some ambition to work on the tree I dropped last week!

    What’s in your shop (tools)?

Had some single tube fluorescents under kitchen cabinets since building the house 30 some years ago. A couple years back when I needed to replace a couple bulbs(tubes) I found those LED conversion kits. No real trouble making the conversion and they do work great. Only problem I could see is if...

    Forum decline

Turning 50? I did that just short of a 26 years ago! Hate to say it but due to some health problems, probably caused by getting rear ended while riding a Vespa, I was talked into not riding or driving any more. At least from front seat, on a good day I will get some time on the passenger seat...
