First Post Regarding my 1970 XS 650

What a beautiful bike. And you held on to it all these years! That's almost unheard of. I remember picking up my 73 TX650 at 18, paid cash. I was working at UPS unloading trailers making at that time good money. But you said you were 16 WOW!

Just to be clear everything on that matching numbers engine is 256 except for the crank and Megacycle adjustable cam and of course cam chain. And it's still available. No bragging just the facts. I normally don't pay any attention to guys like that. Neither should anyone else.

Troubles after new pistons and rings.

Did you just throw in a new piston and rings. Did you measure clearance at all, hone the cylinder?. Anyway might want to start with a good ultrasonic cleaning of the carbs. Set them to factory specs and go from there.

Installing the engine into frame question

It is fun, took us a couple of days to actually stand up on them for a few seconds but now after 5 years we are pretty good, hardly ever fall. At 72 it helps keep your balance in tune and gives the legs some additional strength :) We can cruise around at 15-20 MPH and I like to do a lot of turns
